Overview

You have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of working experience in logistics, supply chain management, warehouse operations or related areas is required.
  • Experience with operating material handling equipment/forklifts up to 3 tons is required.
  • A valid driving license Type B is required.
  • A valid forklift operator certificate (up to three tons) is required.
  • Valid driver's license type C is desirable.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Experience with stock-taking and periodical inventory check is desirable.

Result of Service

• All loading/offloading and cargo movement activities are carried out as required and in a timely and secure manner. • All stock count, checks, and reconciliation activities are performed in a timely and secure manner. • All anomalies or discrepancies found during inspections are correctly reported.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunication Technologies services and training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programs of the UN system worldwide. The UNGSC is seeking to hire four (4) Individual Contractors for supporting warehousing activities related to the loading/offloading, the movement of, as well as to the disposal of materials. These positions are located in the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy, within the Warehouse and Distribution Unit (W&D), Delivery and Return Section, Supply Chain Service. The Individual Contractor (Logistics Assistant) will work under the supervision of the Chief Warehouse and Distribution Unit. The Individual Contractor will perform the following duties: • Support to W&D daily operations. • Loading/offloading activities and physical movement of materials. • Operate small capacity mechanical handling equipment, up to three (3) tons. • Support physical stock counts, stock checks, and stock reconciliation efforts. • Ensure all anomalies or discrepancies found are accurately documented and correctly reported. • Support goods preparation for transfer, including proper packing. • Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief of Warehouse and Distribution Unit.

Qualifications/special skills

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (02) years of working experience in logistics, supply chain management, warehouse operations or related areas is required. Experience with operating material handling equipment/forklifts up to 3 tons is required. Experience with stock-taking and periodical inventory check is desirable. A valid driving license Type B is required. A valid forklift operator certificate (up to three (03) tons) is required. Valid driver’s license type C is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
