Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programs of the UN system worldwide.

The United Nations Global Support Center (UNGSC) is seeking to hire two (2) individual contractors to provide support across various logistics and administrative tasks of the Central Maintenance and Repair Unit (CMRU).

These positions are located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy, within the Central Maintenance and Repair Unit (CMRU) of the Supply Chain Service.

The Logistic Assistants will work under the supervision of the Central Maintenance and Repair Unit (CMRU) Chief.

The individual contractors will be performing the following duties: • Receive supplies from different sections, arranges for transportation and follows-up from delivery to destination. • Lift and carries various goods and materials as required and ensures proper storage of supply materials (including dangerous cargo) in accordance with prescribed warehouse standards for storage and safety and international regulations. • Inform appropriate consignees on delivery of items. • Prepare and processes supply requests and other documentation as required. • Drive vehicles to/from UNGSC Central Warehouse and other offices. • Prepare, processes and follows up on administrative arrangements concerning the movement of goods and materials. • Maintain up-to-date (both in hard and soft copies) Unit files, such as administrative instructions and other related documentation. • Provide general office support services such as drafting routine correspondence and distribution to various officials. • Perform basic database entry and extraction functions. • Check the accuracy of simple calculations, coding, and data. • Review, records, routes and/or processes mail or other documents; gathers pertinent background material; tracks and monitors follow-up action as required. • Operate any types of hand tools and powered equipment/machinery. • Perform various material handling tasks in the most productive and efficient manner. • Adhere to UNGSC Safety and Health rules and regulations when performing each assigned task. • Perform other duties as and when required by the supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills

EDUCATION High School diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Inventory Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Warehouse Operations is required. Experience in material and goods handling and general administration within an international or commercial organization is required. Experience using Microsoft Office package in a working environment is required.

QUALIFICATIONS Valid driving license type B is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required
