Result of Service

The team Assistant at this level report directly to the Chief, land Unit and assists the Land Unit, within the mission area of operations. As such, he/she will be responsible for acquisition, management, divestiture of leased properties/government allocated lands as well as carry out assessment visit, record findings, and report the actual status of the UN Right-To-Use/leased pieces of land/properties for operational purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities

He/she will be responsible for: • Contribute to plan, organize, and carry out the reconnaissance visits to identify land/sites to house the Mission's offices/bases. • Ability to travel to remote area to carry out recces on short notice. • Produce relevant information for the field visit reports. • Regular updating of database and other documents related to land acquisition. • Prepare and follow up administrative documents for planned reconnaissance missions (MOPs for participants, flight request, waiver etc) • Follow up on land acquisition, management, and divestiture/closure process in accordance with relevant SOP’s and UN Regulations and Rules. • Be directly involved in updating reports related to commercial leases/government allocated pieces of land. • Assist in coordinating logistics requirement for land acquisition, management and divestiture tasks coming from different Sections under Mission Support Division (MSD), the Government counterpart and other entities of the Mission. • He/She assists in the coordination of logistical support efforts whose implementation involves several sections of the Mission. • Archiving (electronically and physically) all documents related to the acquisition/management/divestiture of land/sites. • Perform any other duties as required by the Unit/Section/Mission.

Qualifications/special skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant first-level university degree in combination with one year of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of three years of required experience. Other: • Knowledge of standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint ...) is required. • Hold a valid driver's license. Being able to prepare a clear and precise presentation and present. Being able to prepare and produce a report, meeting minutes, draft memos etc. Give feedback to the customer in real time. • Accountability: Endorse all the responsibilities and the commitments. Produce the results expected within the prescribed time, the cost, quality, and the expected standard. Work according to the rules and regulations of the organization. Supporting subordinates supervise and take responsibility for delegated tasks. Uniting the successes and differ from his own position, solidarity with the group's successes and failures. • Experience: Have at least three (3) years of professional experience with progressive responsibility in the management of equipment, stocks, logistics, reporting, archiving, purchasing or any related field.

Languages

Language: English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written French is required. Knowledge of English is preferred, and knowledge of Sango is desired.
