Please note that the OSCE is not in a position paying any remuneration during the period of internship nor reimburse travel expenses.

The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It, therefore, addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence and security-building measures, human rights, combating human trafficking, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism, and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.

The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek (POiB) assists the host Government with the implementation of OSCE commitments and relevant international obligations and standards. The Economic and Environmental Department in the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek (POiB) deals with economic and environmental issues, operating under the premise that promoting economic prosperity and co-operation on environmental problems can contribute to international security and stability.

Note: The Economic and Environmental Department is looking to recruit an intern under the Anti-Corruption/Digitalization/AML project for two months starting September 2022. Possible extensions up to 6 months are subject to the needs of the hiring unit and performance of the incumbent.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the National Anti-Corruption Officer, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

  1. Conducting thematic research;
  2. Supporting daily operational work;
  3. Assisting in the preparation and organization of events;
  4. Note-taking and contributing to drafting internal and news reports;
  5. Providing functional support to project implementation;
  6. Assisting in monitoring projects by collecting, registering, reporting and maintaining information on project activities;
  7. Performing other work-related duties as required by the Supervisor.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Be between 19 and 30 years old and have completed two years of full-time studies from an accredited institution or have completed a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE’s mandate no longer than two years ago by the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice;
  • Citizenship of or permanent residence in Kyrgyz Republic;
  • Studies in an academic field related to the OSCE portfolio;
  • Knowledge of the Central Asian region and its societal/political processes is highly desirable;
  • Fluency in Russian and English with excellent communication skills;
  • Knowledge of Kyrgyz will be considered an asset;
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to process and classify information quickly and efficiently;
  • Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills;
  • Previous experience in working for international organizations/internships;
  • Excellent IT knowledge, familiarity with Microsoft Office and Internet applications;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity.

Remuneration Package:

The OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration or cover any expenses incurred by the intern during his/her stay nor reimburse travel expenses.

The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at his/her own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange his/her own medical coverage, he/she shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station he/she applies to, and for any eventual duty trip destinations.

The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.
