You have:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required in implementing Livelihoods interventions oriented to micro/cash for work activities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required on projects targeting urban and peri-urban vulnerable population.
  • Demonstrated experience to provide training and mobilize communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in projects including cash grants for business is an asset.
  • Computer skills, particularly MS Office; Excel and Word.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business administration, agriculture engineering, economic or related subjects is an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and the local languages is required.

ABOUT THE JOB

Livelihood Officer is responsible to ensure the high quality delivery of specialized project activities requiring particular skills sets (for example, implementation of Economic Recovery/Livelihood activities). Project activities and deliverables will be determined project by project basis, and in line with DRC and donor polices and guidelines. Besides, EcRec/Livelihood officer objective is to achieve Cash for work project objectives, provide business development support to Micro enterprise beneficiaries and follow up and coaching with Micro enterprise supported beneficiaries at project level. And also he/she will be contributing beneficiaries’ assessment, market assessment, and coordination internally (emergency, protection, HMA, MEAL and Support services department) and externally (Communities, DoRR, DoE, NEPA, DolSA and other related stakeholders. And will report directly to EcRec/livelihood Team leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct beneficiary assessment for cash for work, and business development support in line with DRC eligibility criteria.
  • Development and implementation of an appropriate work plan for implementation of cash for work project activities.
  • Monitoring of the progress of technical activities, including project quality, beneficiary selection and conformity to government specifications
  • Supervision, sign-off and documentation of all technical works.
  • Identify Community Leaders and organize meetings with them in order to clarify needs and problems of the community and to identify solutions
  • Contribute to the needs assessment in the area of operation and to the planning of new activities
  • Train micro enterprise beneficiaries in the preparation and application of profitable business requirements and strategies
  • Prepare suitable and viable business plans to Micro enterprise beneficiaries as per the market demand
  • Provide financial support to micro enterprise (ME) beneficiaries in line with DRC and donors polices.
  • Follow-up micro enterprise beneficiaries assigned other, in particular by:
  • Conducting regular coaching of the micro enterprise beneficiaries
  • Identifying problems and provide support in the revision of business plans
  • Contribute market linkage/information with supported beneficiaries
  • Report on regular basis to the Livelihoods TL progress and challenges faced by micro enterprise or cash for work beneficiaries.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required in implementing Livelihoods interventions oriented to micro/cash for work activities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required on projects targeting urban and peri-urban vulnerable population
  • Demonstrated experience to provide training and mobilize communities
  • Demonstrated experience in projects including cash grants for business is an asset
  • Computer skills, particularly MS Office; Excel and Word Ideal candidate has:
  • Good mobilization, sensitization and facilitation skills
  • Familiarity with local markets, products promotion and establishing relations with market actors
  • Ability to identify market drivers and viable business
  • Familiarity with micro-enterprise and cash for work standard operation manual.
  • Ability to organize and conduct trainings, with specific capacities on business-oriented trainings
  • Ability to foster and guide the creation of business plans, including risk

Female applicants:

  • Interested qualified female candidates with a minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience
  • Female in DRC who travel for official trips will be allowed to travel with a Moharam and the travel/accommodation cost will be incurred by DRC.
  • Female mothers who work for DRC are eligible for Day Care cost for their children up to the age of 6.

Education/qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business administration , agriculture engineering, Economic or related subjects is an asset

Languages:

  • Fluency in written and Spoken in English and the local languages is required.
