Overview

You have:

  • 2 years’ experience in humanitarian or private sectors or experience in providing life skills training
  • University degree/diploma in business, law, or any other field of social sciences
  • Pashto language proficiency
  • Dari language proficiency

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of Livelihood and Food Security Assistant position is to setup, implement and monitor the Livelihood and Food Security Project activities in South Region focusing on all districts of Kandahar province and surrounding areas. S/He will report to Livelihood and Food Security Coordinator in Kandahar, expected to spend 80% of her/his time in the field mostly in Districts, visiting, identifying, selecting and monitoring Beneficiaries, Areas of high displacement, Vulnerable Households and engaging with external stakeholders and local authorities.

Generic responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities:

  • Focal Point of contact between NRC and the various non-staff individuals relevant to NRC’s Livelihood and Food Security project (community elders, beneficiaries and stakeholders.)
  • Implement community mobilization campaigns and conduct community engagement meetings.
  • Implement beneficiaries’ selection survey using NRC’s relevant tools (KOBO).
  • Enter data into the databases.
  • Immediately report any challenges or implementation delays to the Livelihood and Food Security Coordinator
  • Ensure proper filing of the documents, including beneficiary registration and distribution lists, receipts, contracts, etc.
  • Assist Livelihood and Food Security technical assistant in identifying areas of high displacement and vulnerable households.
  • Collect assessment, Baseline, End line and other monitoring data by conducting interviews with beneficiaries and key informants in the field.
  • Help analyze assessment and Monitoring and Evaluation data as required – with the support of the Livelihood and Food Security technical assistant and Monitoring and Evaluation staff.
  • Maintain well-organized and up to date databases of all beneficiaries.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Qualification

  • 2 years’ experience in humanitarian or private sectors or experience in providing life skills training

Education

  • University degree/diploma in business, law, or any other field of social sciences

Language

  • Pashto
  • Dari
  • English (Basic Knowledge of English Language)
