Overview

Implement and supervise the LFS Program in White Nile region, ensuring quality and technical integrity.

You have:

  • A university degree essential, related to Agriculture and economics is preferred
  • At least three years working in Livelihoods and Food security programs
  • Two years' experience in implementation of emergency and early recovery projects
  • Two years' Experience in implementing agricultural and business support projects
  • Experience in delivering training delivery to projects’ participants
  • Experience in organizing and managing activities at distribution sites and community mobilization
  • Experience in conducting needs/vulnerability assessments and beneficiary selection processes
  • Fluency in Arabic. Good English working skills
  • Medium level computer skills, especially in Word and Excel
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

The purpose of the LFS technical officer position is day to day implementation and technical supervision of LFS Program in White Nile. This role involves traveling to all areas in the White Nile region where LFS activities are being conducted. In addition to carrying out field activities, the technical officer focuses on maintaining the technical integrity and quality of LFS programming.

  • Fluency in Arabic. Good English working skills.

Responsibilities

Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, SOPs, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Provide support, when relevant to LFS Assistants
  3. Prepare and develop Work Plans and status reports as required by management
  4. Implement delegated LFS activities according to Work Plans/Detailed Implementation Plans
  5. Ensure proper filing of documents, especially soft copies, including Securing Supporting Documentation (SSD)
  6. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
  7. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement in relation to both the “hard” and “soft” components of LFS programming
  8. Provide the job training as required to increase the capacity, when relevant of LFS Assistants; actively participate in capacity building training, workshops and seminars organized by NRC
  9. Ensure that gender and protection mainstreaming are carried out at field level
  10. Collaborate with teams from other CCs including Emergency Response

Specific Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead needs assessments, market assessments, focus group discussions, community meetings, and other community mobilization activities
  • Supervise beneficiary selection in accordance with project selection criteria
  • Assist the LFS Project Manager, LFS Coordinator in developing messaging around project implementation, selection criteria and any other related beneficiary issues
  • Organize and participate in regular monitoring visits (PDMs) and any post-project follow ups, evaluations, and regularly visit implementation sites to monitor and follow up on day-to-day activities.
  • In coordination with Agriculture research and agriculture departments prepare training materials and facilitate producers training
  • Work with M&E Unit on Complaints Feedback Mechanism (CFM)
  • Track and record information with beneficiaries regarding their requests for information or suggestions/complaints related to LFS programming
  • Organize and lead field level M&E activities and develop Success Stories from project implementation when requested
  • Prepare Procurement Requests, Purchase Orders, Contracts
  • Carry-out field level coordination with community stakeholders in areas of project implementation
  • Participate in all training and distributions.
  • Supervise activities at distribution sites ensuring that NRC Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to during distributions, awareness campaigns and community mobilization activities, and that proper documentation is verified and collected
  • Manage relations with local authorities and implementing partners.
  • Develop required training material and review the ones shared by ministries.
  • Support in developing required tools for the LFS team.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to the community committees established under the LFS program.
  • Propose initiatives and suggestions aimed at enhancing the quality of LFS implementation.
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by the Primary or Secondary Supervisor
