Overview

Assist judges and registrar with legal tasks and case analysis.

You have:

  • University degree in law from an accredited educational institution
  • Minimum 3 years of experience practicing law with a first-level degree in law; 1 year with an advanced degree in law
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required
  • Working knowledge of Arabic desirable

Result of Service - Assists the Judge and Registrar as required, including: drafting orders and judgments; analyzing case files; researching UNAT/UNDT/UNRWA DT jurisprudence and administrative regulations, rules and other issuances; attending hearings and summarizing evidence. - Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Work Location HQ Amman.

Expected duration 01.03 to 30.11.2023

Duties and Responsibilities - Reports to the Registrar of the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal on case-related and administrative matters. - Assists the Judge and Registrar as required, including: drafting orders and judgments; analyzing case files; researching UNAT/UNDT/UNRWA DT jurisprudence and administrative regulations, rules and other issuances; attending hearings and summarizing evidence. - Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications/special skills MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ¿ University degree in law from an accredited educational institution ¿ Minimum 3 years of experience practicing law with a first-level degree in law; 1 year with an advanced degree in law. ¿ Fluency in written and spoken English

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS ¿ Experience in the field of administrative law, particularly in an administrative dispute tribunal of an international organisation ¿ Experience in litigation or working for a judge drafting judicial submissions or issuances ¿ Significant experience in legal drafting in English.

Languages ¿ Fluency in written and spoken English required. ¿ Working knowledge of Arabic desirable.

Additional Information The incumbent is entilted to 1.5 annual leave per month. Monthly Salary is USD 843.5.
