This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

The Learning Passport (LP) is a collaboration between UNICEF and Microsoft to address the challenges faced by over 30 million children and youth to access continued, quality education due to disruptions caused by crisis and displacement.  The goal is to make possible stable and effective learning pathways for these children despite the instabilities they experience; this includes helping them to enter or return smoothly into national systems or prepare for work and life. The Lebanon Learning Passport aims to improve student understanding of core concepts in foundational (literacy, numeracy, science) and transferable (communication, collaboration, etc.) skills. UNICEF is collaborating with the implementing Partners rolling-out this platform to reach the most vulnerable and support them continuing their education and acquiring new skills.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Adolescent and Youth Section, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

• Support the Learning Passport (LP) team in the rollout of the LP with implementing partners through trainings, meetings coordination and follow-ups;
• Provide technical support and assistance as agreed with the LP team on technical matters related to the functions of the LP; • Assist in the on-boarding of new implementing Partners and dissemination of on-boarding resources; • Engage with implementing partners on matters pertaining to the technical assistance to be provided above or as otherwise agreed; • Assist the team in the preparation of technical reports related to rollout activities; • Collect and assemble data and background on matters pertaining to the technical assistance to be provided through this assignment and provides updated information on programme/project financial and administrative status for analysis and report purposes; • Participate in planning and monitoring on matters pertaining to the technical assistance to be provided through this assignment to identity and analyze bottlenecks; will recommend courses of action to supervisor and assist where necessary to implement recommendations in relation to digital learning; • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

and/or demonstrated interest in the main areas of the assignment (coordination, planning, monitoring, reporting); • Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others; • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills; • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team; • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences; • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions; • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded; • Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others); • Thorough understanding of Education programming and/or relevant technical fields; • Excellent writing skills for a wide variety of purposes; • Experience with the Learning Passport is an asset.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
