The Position:

The Last Mile Assurance Analyst position is within the Country Support Team in the UNFPA Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). You report directly to the Country Support Team Lead. The Last Mile Assurance (LMA) process aims at obtaining visibility on how UNFPA programme supplies are managed at different levels of the supply chain, allowing for better programming, targeted supply chain systems strengthening interventions, increased UNFPA and Implementing Partner (IP) accountability, and improved ability to discharge UNFPA's fiduciary obligations to donors.

UNFPA occupies a unique position in the Reproductive Health Commodity ecosystem as a critical player in supply chain management, a leading public procurer of reproductive health commodities, a trusted partner to national governments, and one of the few organizations with the scale and partnerships necessary to build accountability for last mile delivery. Additionally, in humanitarian settings, UNFPA is responsible for ensuring the availability of lifesaving sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence prevention and response commodities to those hardest to reach, and commodities to enable operational programme implementation in the hardest to operate settings.

The Supply Chain Management Unit, which was established in January 2022, ensures that UNFPA is able to support the delivery of life-saving reproductive health products and other programme supplies effectively and efficiently to the end user when and where they are needed. To do so, it provides enabling services to Regional Offices and Country Offices and ensures coordination, end-to-end visibility, and accountability on all supply-chain-management related activities, across all UNFPA Programmes.

Job Purpose:

As the Last Mile Assurance Analyst, you will support the Country Support Team Lead by managing a team of LMA Associates to coordinate and implement the LMA process.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

Advanced university degree in either Medical Science, Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Public Health, International Development, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, Data Science, Accounting and Audit or equivalent is required. A first level university degree combined with a professional Supply Chain Management certification such as CIPS at Level 4 Advanced Diploma and/or CILT at any of the Level 4 qualification, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification, GDP/GMP certification, ISO 9001 certification may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience covering areas such as supply management, quality assurance of medical products in the supply chain particularly involving storage and distribution, supply chain monitoring and evaluation and logistics information systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases, spreadsheets, and data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Experience in developing standard operating procedures
  • Experience in delivering in-person and remote training.
  • Professional written and spoken presentation skills, including for the development of reports, presentations, and the ability to synthesize complex technical documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good interpersonal skills and capability to develop and maintain broad diversified partnerships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The following are added advantage:
    • Basic knowledge of the principles and operational aspects of integrated SRH health care in the global development and humanitarian community
    • Experience in SCM data analytics and assurance activities

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is an asset.
