Monitor media and conduct interviews relevant to human rights.
You have:
- High School Diploma required with five years of relevant professional experience.
- Established network of contacts across Myanmar communities; recognized as a trusted interlocutor; experience in interpretation in the field of human rights.
- Burmese and English mandatory; other languages commonly used in Myanmar are an advantage.

Result of Service
- Primary sources of information are identified and contacts are established;
- Interviews with primary sources are conducted in languages of choice of the interlocutors
- Public materials of the Office are timely translated
- Capacity building activities with Myanmar human rights organizations are organized and delivered.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor media and social media in Myanmar languages to gather information on possible human rights violations and abuses as well as other violations of international law;
- Identify victims, witnesses, and other primary sources of information with regard to human rights violations and other violations of international law;
- Liaise with relevant members of the Myanmar Team to secure communication with identified sources;
- Provide technical assistance and interpretation during formal communications with sources of information;
- Support the implementation of the OHCHR Myanmar Team mandate by assisting in conducting interviews with relevant primary and secondary sources to respond to reporting obligations and referrals to UN Human Rights Mechanisms and during capacity building activities carried out by the team;
- Translate OHCHR public documents with attention to terminology relevant to international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law;
- Ensure full respect of the principle of “do no harm” in every and each interaction.
Qualifications/special skills
High School Diploma is a minimum requirement coupled with five years of relevant professional experience. Established network of contacts cross Myanmar communities; be recognized as a trusted interlocutor; having experience in interpretation in the field of human rights
Languages
Burmese and English mandatory, other languages commonly used in Myanmar are an advantage
