Result of Service- Establishment of criteria for survey methods and procedures - Verification of the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites - Survey reports and drawings including topographic mappings of camps, plots, shelters, buildings and routes (roads and infrastructure utilities like water and wastewater pipelines) - Prepared geo-referenced data, charts, plots, maps, drawings, profiles, records and documents related to surveys - Records of the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, elevation and dimension of land or land features, shelters, buildings & facilities, infrastructure, roads, etc. - Performance reports on hired Surveyors and staff doing surveying works - Training reports on local staff engaged in land surveying - Survey reports related to setting up settlement sites including establishing and recording agreed boundaries for settlements, properties, roads, infrastructure, public facilities and spaces, etc. - Reports on regular and impromptu solutions to survey problems, recommendations, remedial actions taken - Bills of quantities and cost estimates of survey works in the Mission's new projects and refurbishment projects - Progress and completion reports of survey projects - Tracking and closure of Task Orders, Calls and Tickets related to land surveying work - Technical evaluation reports on survey projects

Expected duration 6 months with the possibility of further extension

Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of Chief Engineer, the Land Surveyor will - Conduct site visits in all UNISFA operational locations and execute land/site survey and collect data and produce topographical mapping for new and existing UNISFA camps and routes including but not limited to roads, plots and blocks boundaries, infrastructure utilities, shelters, buildings and facilities, flood prone areas swamp, rivers, wades etc. in accordance with UNISFA needs, design requirements, standards and applicable local and international codes of practice and utilizing relevant equipment and software. - Prepare geo-referenced data, charts, plots, maps, drawings, profiles, records and documents related to surveys; keeps records of the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, elevation and dimension of land or land features, shelters, buildings & facilities, infrastructure, roads, etc. - The detailed topographical survey shall collect adequate data to show the following details in the subsequent topographical map: - Topography with details such as: trees, water bodies, existing infrastructures, buildings and other land features; - Details of existing cross-drainage structure details such as: length, width and heights of culverts, bridges, details about bridge spans, pier, abutment, railing and vertical clearances, existing access under the bridge, river training works and riverbank structure details; - Existing IT & telecommunication details such as: telephone lines, poles/towers, cabinets, towers and underground lines (if any); - Existing water supply line details such as: supply mains, distribution lines, valves, valve chambers, underground water storage, fire hydrants, etc - Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features. - Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures. - Assist in setting up settlement sites; conducts surveys in order to establish agreed boundaries for settlements, properties (including those of the host community as may be relevant), roads, infrastructure, public facilities and spaces, etc. - Pay regular and emergency visits to the sites to solve surveying problems to ensure continuity of operations, identifies and records any quality problems, recommends remedial actions as necessary; assist engineers for completed work quantities calculation and verifies that his/her comments and recommendations are implemented. - Make use of geographical information systems (GIS) & AutoCAD to analyses and interpret site features - Routinely verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. - Supervise the works of and provide guidance for the partners Land Surveyors A, ensures they are equipped with the required knowledge to perform their job efficiently. - Work closely, through the direct supervisor, with other sectors (Environment, Infrastructure, Construction) etc. - Performs other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer or representative

Qualifications/special skills Bachelor's Degree in Surveying or at least 1 (one) year training in Surveying after the completion of bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is acceptable. A minimum of Eight (8) years of progressively working experience in the land surveying and topographic mapping is required. At least 2 years (out of minimum 8) experience in detail surveying for the design of engineering projects is required. Experience with the United Nations Common System is desirable. Previous experience working with relevant software (AutoCAD, Infraworks, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, Open Street Map, others) is required.

Languages Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an added advantage.
