UNICEF is a UN agency mandated to promote the protection of children’s rights, including a right to education. UNICEF works to achieve 5 goal areas, including Goal 2: Every Child Learns, using 8 change strategies, including using the power of evidence to drive change for children. In line with this goal and strategy, UNICEF EAPRO’s Education Section works to support UNICEF Country Offices and governments in 14 countries across the region in delivering quality inclusive education to all children. To that end, generation of quality knowledge, data and evidence to support and advocate for best practices in education is a critical pillar of UNICEF work.

This UNV assignment is designed to support knowledge management, communication and related work of the UNICEF EAPRO Education Section. This position will focus on tasks related to knowledge management, communication and advocacy programme coordination, and contribution management for the work of the Education Section and ECD. The regional office provides technical support to 14 countries throughout the region in education as well as the development of regional goods.

This position would primarily support the second pillar and would involve opportunities to work with other UN agencies.

In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. It does not apply to UN Volunteers who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their contracts.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Education Specialist (P-4) or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Knowledge Management Specialist will: • Maintain appropriate knowledge management system that support the documentation of the immunization programme’s results, storage and sharing • Prepare, maintain and share records and documents for the knowledge management of the education section (including ECD and out-of-school children) for programme implementation and programme coordination • Collect and tabulate data and provide technical inputs to ensure achievement of section objectives. Contribute to the development and/or introduction and documentation of new approaches, methods andpractices • Contribute to the preparation of reports, project documents and submissions by providing information, generating and analyzing funding reports, preparing tables and drafting relatively routine sections; • Contribute for developing new fundraising proposals for implementing the UNICEF Education in EAP countries /Contribute to document good practices and lessons learnt from the project interventions • Support the section in drafting and revising communication products for education in the region in coordination with Education, ECD, COs and EAPRO Communication; • Support internal communication on knowledge management with regional and global focal points • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
