The Knowledge Management Specialist post is placed in the West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO). S/He is part of an interdisciplinary team with a focus on design thinking and prototype development. s/he contributes to monitoring, robust evaluation and scaleup of best practices and innovative approaches across the regional programme initiatives and in support of the country offices in the West and Central Africa Region.

S/He will work under the overall guidance and supervision of the Deputy Regional Director and under the direct supervision of the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor. She works in close collaboration with the other Programme and thematic units of the Regional Office.

The purpose of this job is to ensure that knowledge is well documented and shared. This will include but not exclusively: methodically and regularly document, record and disseminate best practices in programme delivery within the West and Central Africa UNFPA Regional and Country offices. Keep track of all knowledge products and studies in the Regional Office and Country offices. Facilitate sharing of relevant best practices from other regions and other organisations into the WCA Country offices.

● Compile, document and analyze best practices in programme delivery and keep track of all knowledge products in the WCA region in a structured manner with a view to expanding UNFPA's knowledge base and applying it to UNFPA's mandate, including to end unmet need for family planning, end preventable Maternal mortality, and ending genderbased violence and all harmful practices; ● Facilitate experience sharing of national thematic networks within the region; ● Support the organization and coordination of the network of country Monitoring and evaluation and knowledge management; ● Regularly disseminate relevant thematic information amongst the regional and national experts; ● Build Linkages with other Research Institutions: Develop and maintain linkages with other research institutions in the region, including universities, think tanks and other international organizations; ● Analyse data needs and initiate/coordinate implementation research activities funded by UNFPA for purposes of improving programme delivery, keeping track and monitoring the implementation of all studies and surveys supported by UNFPA; ● Manage baseline survey, reviews, evaluations, and other assessment activities conducted by UNFPA Country Office; ● Support interventions for generation of evidence derived from research and drawing of lessons learned in programme management and delivery; ● Regular documentation of lessons learnt on various monitoring and evaluation systems and interventions by the Country Office and government sectors; ● Prepare a monthly briefing note on the latest trends and developments for dissemination to our operational units (COs and WCARO units). ● Lead the knowledge management by ensuring that outcomes of UNFPA activities are properly documented, discussed, and disseminated in-country, and through UNFPA regional and global networks.

Knowledge management, organizational learning, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E) experience, international development or/and international affairs.

Demonstrated understanding of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning activities:

●Experience in international development issues and approaches (overseas experience a plus). ●Demonstrated interest in and capacity to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning programs. ●Ability to link content development and engagement strategies that facilitate timely, useful delivery of information through project learning platforms and activities. ● Excellent facilitation, program/activity management, and written and oral communication skills. ● Proven experience turning specialized content (such as research papers, reports) into accessible material for a non-specialist audience (such as slideshows, policy briefs, blogs). ● Proven track record of strong writing skills which is an essential part of this job. ● Creative problem-solving and ability to work under tight deadlines. ● Team player with a positive attitude.
