The Immunization Section is part of the Health Programme in UNICEF’s Programme Group. The Immunization Section consists of six teams: (i) Strategy & Management, (ii) Social & Behaviour Change, (iii) Immunization Financing, (iv) Accelerated Immunization Initivatives, (v) Coverage & Equity and (vi) Supply Chain.

The Strategy & Management team is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the global immunization programme in line with the UNICEF Immunization Roadmap to 2030, as well as financial and programmatic monitoring of grants implemented by teams within the Immunization Section and for certain immunization grants implemented by UNICEF regional and country offices (multi-country grants). The KM function will play a key role in coordinating KM plan for the immunization section, managing new KM KPIs and organizing key KM events.

The role will contribute to knowledge management on outputs and outcomes of global immunization programme.

The purpose of the job is to develop and maintain a strong knowledge management system for the global immunization programme, and to coordinate the panning, monitoring, packaging and dissemination of immunization-related learning and knowledge management activities.

How can you make a difference?

Knowledge Management for Programmes

  • Contribute to the Immunization programme knowledge management (KM) through providing assistance in data collection and analysis, monitoring implementation progress, completing and accurate reporting.
  • Plan, organize and follow-up on KM events on priority topics for internal audiences involving headquarters, regional and country offices.
  • Support documentation of good practices and lessons learned.
  • Participate in information exchange with partners as well as in providing technical assistance in the development of training and orientation material. Participate in the preparation of, and contributing to, the preparation of programme reports, project proposals, donor reports, and technical papers required for the section.
  • Manage immunization section’s communication and collaboration sites and regulary update them as needed.

KM Activity Planning, Monitoring and evaluation

  • Provide technical support to establish an effective plan to evaluate and monitor knowledge management activities. Work closely with relevant team members to analyse and evaluate data to ensure compliance and achievement of objectives and recommend corrective action, when necessary, to meet programme/project objectives.
  • Monitor Knowledge Management KPIs such as the publication of new and evolving global knowledge relevant products and disseminate them amongst team and partners ensuring the exchange and sharing of experience, lessons learned, best practices and new methods.
  • Collaborate and prepare quarterly, mid-year and annual programme status reports in a timely manner, as required.

KM Capacity Building

  • Support capacity building and support for internal knowledge acquisition, management and sharing.
  • Provide technical assistance and support in planning and organizing training programmes for the capacity building.

Partnership, Coordination and Collaboration

  • Facilitate partnership and collaboration with internal and external counterparts, including those of the Immunization Agenda 2030, Gavi Alliance, WHO and others in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate best practices, lessons learnt and innovations.
  • Establish and maintain linkage to the Global and Health Knowledge functions and Networks to ensure the availability of current and accurate programme data as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: knowledge management, organizational learning, international development, public health, international affairs, or other relevant discipline.
  • Advanced degree considered a strong asset.
  • Minimum two (2) years proven work experience in a related working across multiple teams to develop Knowledge Management Plans and Products, preferably in the area of public health and immunization is required.
  • Prior experience of developing and managing websites; and of planning and organizing Knowledge Management events
  • Experience of supporting the development of reports and publications and working with multi-disciplinary teams is desired
  • Experience developing professional presentations is an asset.
  • Experience of working with UN system is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in the developing country context is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, French or Spanish) is an asset.
