The WFP Regional Bureau for Eastern Africa (RBN) is based in Nairobi and provides strategic direction, technical guidance, resource mobilization, and management support to WFP operations and activities in ten countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda.

JOB PURPOSE

Developing RBN Institutional repository will support RBN to have all working documents in a centralized place for future use will help our employees’ productivity and efficiency.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated (within the last year) in Information science; Knowledge management; Information technology, or a related field
  • Currently enrolled or recent graduate of an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) highly regarded
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Good knowledge of Database; Good knowledge of Office 365

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The intern, reporting to the Knowledge Management (KM) lead, is expected to:

  • Support the coordination of the Information and Knowledge Management Focal Points (IKM FPs) network: scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, organizing speakers, drafting meeting summaries.
  • Work with RBN’s IKM FPs to organize, and classify documents in collaboration with content owners (units, sections, teams) by using WFP guidelines
  • Guide IKM FPs and RBN staff on how to use WFP Communities in Yammer for information and knowledge sharing
  • When necessary, work with the Technology unit to carry out training sessions on how to use Microsoft Office tools effectively (TEAMS, OUTLOOK, SHAREPOINT)
  • Support the KM workstream to organize and facilitate knowledge events such as knowledge cafés, Insights sessions, and Brownbag sessions: scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, organizing speakers, drafting meeting summaries.
  • Provide support to the KM workstream in conducting training on Knowledge Management
  • Support the PCM unit to carry out onboarding sessions for new staff
  • Produce monthly analytics of usage of the WFP Communities platform in Yammer
  • Produce engagement analytics of RBN’s knowledge events
  • Other tasks as may be required

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP depending on the duty station of assignment (i.e. Nairobi).
  • This position is not remote and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya for the entirety of the contract.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  • The internship duration is 8 months, full-time.
