The UNICEF Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO) Digital Impact team supports 24 Country Offices in advancing digital transformation as a strategic enabler of programme impact, operational efficiency, and scale. Digital transformation is a cross-cutting priority that spans ICT, data, and digital programme initiatives, requiring coordination, visibility, and structured knowledge sharing across countries and sectors.
While substantial work is ongoing across the region, knowledge is often fragmented, visibility of results remains limited, and access to relevant tools, guidance, and lessons learned is inconsistent. This assignment aims to strengthen the Digital Impact team’s capacity in knowledge management, communications, and reporting by: 1/ Improving access to and organization of knowledge products 2/ Increasing visibility of digital initiatives and results 3/ Supporting structured reporting and regional consolidation 4/ Facilitating knowledge sharing and cross-country learning.
The UNV Specialist modality provides a cost-effective and flexible solution to address immediate gaps in knowledge management, visibility, and reporting capacity within the increasingly strategic Digital Impact function.
Under the supervision of the Regional Chief, Digital Impact, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Knowledge Management & Information Structuring • Organize, structure, and maintain the Digital Impact SharePoint and knowledge repositories • Ensure easy access to tools, guidance, templates, and resources for Country Offices • Capture, document, and curate lessons learned, best practices, and flagship initiatives • Support structuring and maintenance of knowledge products (guidelines, briefs, playbooks) • Facilitate knowledge sharing across ICT and Digital Programmes
Communications & Visibility • Develop and produce content to increase visibility of Digital Impact work across the region • Draft articles, success stories, and case studies from Country Offices • Support preparation of donor briefs and communication materials • Contribute to communication efforts highlighting regional digital initiatives
Reporting & Data Visualization • Support preparation of regional reports (internal, donor-facing, and annual reporting) • Consolidate country-level inputs to produce regional overviews • Support development of simple dashboards and tracking tools • Improve presentation and accessibility of Digital Impact information
Knowledge Capture & Learning • Support documentation of digital transformation initiatives across Country Offices • Consolidate insights from missions, CPD processes, and programme implementation • Facilitate cross-country learning and knowledge exchange • Support knowledge-sharing sessions and communities of practice
Strategic Support & Content Development • Contribute to preparation of presentations and briefing materials for senior management • Support development of internal guidance and structured knowledge products • Assist in compiling inputs for strategic positioning and planning

This assignment provides the opportunity to work at the regional level on digital transformation, engaging with multiple Country Offices and contributing to initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean. Panama is in Central America with a population of 4,300,000 million, the official language is Spanish, but most Panamanians are bilingual. Panama has a lower crime rate than many other countries in the region. Panama City is largely a safe city – but care does need to be taken in some areas and with personal property. It is your choice whether you opt for a house or an apartment. Beautiful spacious houses, with gardens are available. Those staff that have opted for an apartment have done so on the basis that they offer more security and more facilities. The US Dollar is used as a legal currency in Panama. There are also coins of the Balboa, which is the national currency, similar in shape and value to the US Dollar. Please make sure to leave Panama only with US Dollar currency, as there are some international difficulties changing the Balboa abroad. Panama has a tropical climate with practically the same average temperature of 27°C year-round with 78% humidity. The rainy season in Panama is from March until November each year, we recommend you bring an umbrella. The air conditioning may be cool at times in the office and in local shops, so we suggest you bring a jacket or sweater. The voltage in Panama is 110v, 60 cycles with two and three prong plugs. Wall plugs are mostly for 110v. In some properties there may by 220v for air conditioning or similar. Current fluctuations are common and electricity cuts are still possible.
