The Dominican Republic is a beautiful and safe country. Housing rentals are easily accessible, with options for houses or apartments available according to budget.

The Dominican Republic has made important development gains in recent years, including in access to basic services. The country has a dynamic economy—driven by tourism, services, and free trade zones—with sustained growth over the last decade. However, income inequality remains high, and inflation and informality affect the quality of life for many. In terms of public safety, although overall crime rates have declined, concerns persist around gender-based violence, organized crime, and limited access to justice in certain areas. These factors, along with disparities in rural and vulnerable communities, continue to impact living conditions. The country is also highly exposed to climate risks, which further affect the most vulnerable populations.

The country is a signatory to key international human rights instruments and currently holds a seat on the UN Human Rights Council, demonstrating its commitment to advancing human rights. However, challenges remain in fully guaranteeing these rights, particularly for migrants, Dominicans of Haitian descent, women, LGBTIQ+ persons, and people living in poverty. Issues such as discrimination, limited access to justice, and the protection of vulnerable groups continue to require sustained efforts and institutional strengthening.
