Position Overview:

The Junior Program Associate – Communications will work with WRI India’s electric mobility and Transport communications team, WRI India’s core communications team and the global communications team. Your role will entail managing project and outreach initiatives, engagement with partners, and supervising communication and outreach material and elements for on-ground and digital initiatives.

Your work would also involve creation and editing of communication content designed to elevate the outreach and effect of the project work and activities. You will be asked to support important partners/ partners (government and non-government) with strategic advice on communications opportunities and the most appropriate means for communicating to target audiences (Transport and electric mobility sector). Hence, a candidate with a background in mass communications, and work experience in the transport, environment and climate change domain. Additionally, knowledge and interest in visual design and proficiency in regional languages will be a bonus. You will report to

How your day will unfold:

Editorial -

• Create engaging visuals to simplify complex research findings.

Provide writing, editing and proofreading support.

• Help team members write blogs and proof/edit to meet WRI India’s standards.

• Copywrite and edit to a high standard main message, social media content, media releases, website materials, video scripts and event briefs

• Document on-ground activities – challenges, opportunities and effect.

• Be a liaison between WRI India core communications and Integrated transport program staff to develop program-related communications.

• Support in quality control and ensure dissemination of emailers and newsletters.

Website, Social Media and Events -

• Perform quality control checks on all new and revised content for websites and social media.

• Work with WRI India core communications staff to ensure that any media coverage is promptly and systematically shared on our social media platforms, websites and in any newsletters, recap mailers or for external media outreach.

• Ability to create/supervise simple social media infographics/visuals and disseminate research data in a visually appealing format. Visual communication knowledge of photo and Video editing software like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro.

• Support in facilitating webinars and workshops/partner engagements/ roundtable discussions/ FGDs that involve digital/ On ground planning and social media coverage in collaboration with the social media team. On-ground support for events and workshops and coordinating with local vendors.

• Contribute to website content updates.

Additional Responsibilities -

• Develop and deliver the communications and partner engagement strategy (including annual schedules for communication and event activities) and action plan to engage partner forums comprising of multiple partner.

• Develop good working relationships with partners to ensure engagement in communications initiatives.

• Undertake research to understand transport and electric mobility-related development across Indian cities and globe.

• To support the team in ongoing projects, research, content generation, reports, proposals.

• Ability to simplify complex ideas, including creating visualizations for easy interpretation of the data for different audiences

• Ensuring WRI India’s branding and style guides are adhered to in all outreach materials.

• Mapping media to specific work and pitching relevant stories in collaboration with the Media lead.

Qualifications and requirements we seek:

  • 0-2 years of full-time experience working as a Media communicator in the development sector. Experience in Transport and Electric mobility focused organization is preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English. Write in Hindi will be an added plus.
  • Experience in providing strategic communications advice for communications initiatives and producing high-quality communications materials for target audiences, including through social media and digital platforms.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with partners.
  • Complex ideas in everyday language.
  • Enthusiasm, technical curiosity, and.
  • Experience in content management systems for website and newsletter content production.
  • Basic familiarity with design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Canva or other AV/ animation software) is an added benefit.

Salary and Benefits: INR 6,50,000 CTC

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Location: Delhi, Mumbai, Other India Cities

Duration: 1 year (Extendable based on performance and project requirements)
