This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The Procurement Assistant undertakes local procurement and assists in the day to day operations of supply. This in turn contributes to maintaining/enhancing the credibility of UNICEF as an effective and responsible manager of funds entrusted to the organization and to furthering UNICEF image as a competent organization for delivering cost effective and sustainable program results.

Under the direct supervision of Supply and Procurement Specialist (S), the National UN Volunteer Specialist will:

• Support the Supply Associate in day-to-day transactional procurement activities such as arranging meetings with vendors/bidders, following up with respective sections to get the specifications/ terms of reference for items to be procured. Assist in drafting requests for award including preparation of tabulation sheets and assist in analysis of offers. • Assist the Contract Officer in the day-to-day transactional management of construction bids, including photocopying offers, tabulating bids, assisting with bid openings, scanning bid files, and filing them in accordance with UNICEF filing rules on ECM/SharePoint. • Collaborate with supply assistants and respective Programme sections monitoring on daily basis open Sales Orders and purchase requisitions supporting the respective programme to take proactive action as appropriate and necessary. • Follow up with vendors for submission of (Goods Received Note) GRNs when applicable and invoices to ensure contracts and purchase orders are paid in a timely manner. • Support all bids pre bid conference, facilitate entrance clearance for bidders who wish to attend the meetings. • Liaise with Programme staff to ensure draft Sales Orders and requisitions are authorized in timely manner. • Coordinates meetings of the Tender Committee to ensure timely bid openings. • Collaborate with different procurement assistants and update procurement dash broad to monitor the progress of procurement of goods and services. • Collaborate with Programme sections on supply needs and consolidate requirements for procurement. • Maintain purchase orders/contracts electronic files on ECM/SharePoint with all required procurement documentation (POs, invoices, delivery receipts, payment requests, correspondence, etc.). • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the Chief of Supply and Procurement, Procurement Specialist, or direct supervisor.

relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context is required. • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills. • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences; • Computer skills: Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office social media, and others is required. • Excellent working knowledge of computers particularly in Excel and Pivot tables

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
