Organizational Setting

FAO's office for Yemen is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Yemen. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. This position is based in FAO Representation in Sanaa, Yemen. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The Junior IT Assistant will be under the general supervision of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer in Yemen.

Technical Focus

The Junior IT Assistant is responsible for performing IT administrative tasks to support daily business operations.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the asset database to ensure all items are correctly recorded against the correct documentation is supported for each item, adding the description, Category, Brand, serial number, Tag, Quantity, and operational status. • Assist inventory management for IT equipment, including computers /desktops, monitors, laptops, printers, modems, etc. with appropriate labelling. • Ensure that a register for IT assets is established and maintained/updated on an ongoing basis. • Provide overall management, tracking, maintenance and reporting of IT assets. • Support in moving and organizing the IT items to the new store location. • Prepare weekly report for all IT equipment in the store. • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in Information systems, Information Management or Computer Science or related discipline. • At least 2 years of relevant experience at the national level. Experience with an UN Agency, International NGO or donor agencies highly desirable. • Working knowledge of English and Arabic. • National or Resident of Yemen.
