Globally, the project which began in mid-2021 aims to address some of the immediate socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 on tourism and heritage, accelerate the recovery to protect livelihoods and transform the sectors to become more inclusive and sustainable. The project will focus on engaging the tourism private sector to create incentives to boost competitiveness based on sustainable practices by providing training and capacity building for key stakeholders. It will invest in cultural heritage preservation while creating short term job opportunities by utilizing culture and heritage as a source of resilience. Within this framework, the project in Viet Nam, focusing on two targeted locations including the Hoi An Old town and Trang An World Heritage sites, will contribute to three major outcomes, namely: - Promotion of sustainable tourism approaches at World Heritage destinations; - Creation of short-term and alternative job opportunities for impacted hospitality workers; - Enhanced training and capacity building for tourist guiding and craft making sectors. UNESCO will partner and work closely with both public and private sector, as well as international and local development partners to create a synergy in supporting the resilience and early recovery of the tourism at World Heritage destinations, and the redefining strategy towards more sustainable and heritage friendly tourism sector in Viet Nam. Long Description ---------------- **WORK ASSIGNMENTS:** **Contract duration: August - December 2022.** Under the overall management of the Head of UNESCO Ha Noi Office and direct supervision of Culture Programme Specialist, the Junior Culture Programme Assistant shall be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Assist the Culture Specialist in managing the programmes and projects ensuring the application of the Organization’s financial and administrative procedures. 2. Assist the Culture Specialist and Project Officer in organizing the project activities, including the preparation of supporting documents and paperwork for the contracting procedure and events organization and liaison with local partners of the Sustainable Tourism Pledge project. 3. Assist the Culture Specialist and Culture team in collecting the inputs for UNESCO Website, press releases, speeches, presentations which reflect timely the project implementation and results. 4. Assist the logistics support for the project events and activities, organizing meetings with project partners, including side events and activities to the project locations in Trang An during the DG visit. 5. Assist the management of UNESCO documents and archives of the Sustainable Tourism Pledge project and culture programme in general. 6. Perform other task as deemed appropriate by the Head of Office and the Culture Specialist.
