**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Communication and Information Sector (CI) Duty Station: Kingston Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 15-MAY-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE CONSULTANCY** ------------------------------------------------ Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office for the Caribbean and the direct supervision of the Adviser for Communication and Information, the Individual consultant shall assist in the implementation of Open Educational Resources (OER). The activities that will be undertaken in this framework are of particular importance as they respond to the priority action area on SIDS in the implementation of this normative instrument. Long Description ---------------- The incumbent will specifically undertake the following tasks: Backstopping of programme implementation for OER activities in the Caribbean SIDS in close collaboration with UNESCO Offices in the subregion, namely Kingston, Havana and Port-au-Prince Office. - Support the organization of up to 5 OER online meetings: provide inputs for the planning and implementation of the online meetings, draft concept notes, liaise with speakers and participants from the different Caribbean countries, follow up actions arising from the online meetings including monitoring and evaluation. - Support the implementation of the OER survey process. - Assist in the overall coordination of the OER Caribbean Consultation processes, including liaison with stakeholders, inputs to the planning and implementation of OER Roadmap activities, contribute to the implementation of follow up actions. - Contribute to the adaptation of the UNESCO OER Recommendation according to the outputs of the different meetings. Long Description ---------------- - Draft news items, reports, synthesis notes, and briefings related to ongoing and future OER projects, activities and events, for internal and public communication. - Provide support for updating and producing relevant new content to contribute to Office’s websites to share information and support collaboration between OER stakeholders on OER Recommendation related activities in the Caribbean. Work Experience At least 2 years of relevant experience at the national or sub-regional level in information field, focused in areas related to OER and/or ICTs in Education. Demonstrated experience in implementing project activities, coordination of meetings and monitoring and evaluation. Skills/Competencies Demonstrated ability to conceptualize issues and analyze data to compile and synthesize information in coherent and succinct formats; Good geopolitical knowledge of the Caribbean sub-region Sound analytic capacities. Excellent coordination and negotiation skills; Excellent communication skills, excellent writing skills Ability to work efficiently in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment and team spirit Sharing knowledge across the organization and building a culture of knowledge sharing and learning. High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines; Languages Excellent knowledge of English or Spanish and working knowledge of the other. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- Work Experience Proven experience implementing activities related to OER.
