ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This position is located in the Legal Office (LEG) of the World Food Programme's (WFP) Headquarters in Rome, Italy*. The Junior Consultant will be assigned to the LEG Front Office team. The Junior Consultant may, however, work on assignments in other areas of activity within LEG based on business needs and expressed personal interests.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the supervision of a Deputy General Counsel and Deputy Director (DGC), the Junior Consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Provide support to the development and implementation of the LEG Strategic Plan 2022 including assisting with the rollout of LEG GSS action points and related tasks.
- Assist in planning and organization of LEG trainings and brown bag sessions, key deliverables under the planned GSS action points.
- Provide support to LEG Business Manager on the development and roll-out of the Case and Knowledge Management System , including support with new functionalities and working methods.
- Conduct research and assist in the introduction of best practice in the area of knowledge management, initiative including in developing ideas and structure.
- Support the DGC and the LEG Business Manager in exploring and developing a project plan for growth and development initiatives for the LEG team.
- Provide special assistant style support on a broad range of matters including preparing for meetings, research and analysis, preparing summaries and updates, preparing reports, memoranda and other correspondence.
- Perform any other related duties, as required by the Legal Office.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of and ability to apply international organization style principles, concepts, procedures and terminology for review, examination, and processing of a range of documents.
- Knowledge of various research sources, techniques, and ability to interpret and apply knowledge; draft strategic and working level papers and devise implementation plans to support a variety of LEG initiatives.
- Business acumen.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
LANGUAGES
Working knowledge (proficiency/Level C) of English; limited knowledge (intermediate/Level B) of another official WFP language i.e., Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian.
