Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination and violence against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women’s China Office in Beijing supports and carries out work on (i) enhancing women's economic empowerment; (ii) ending violence against women; and (iii) innovative work to address gender issues in China. In addition to the above, UN Women also actively participates and contributes to various UN inter-agency processes and collaborates with UN organizations around specific programme areas.
The needs on different aspects of communication work including through external channels and internal reporting are growing. Strong visibility and branding are very key to mobilize resources and position the organization better in the country, region, and global level. These require that the UN Women China Office has comparable capacity to meet the growing needs and to provide evidence-based communications and advocacy though our daily work, plan innovative campaigns, strengthen media outreach, also give support to different programme teams and strategic partnerships development.
UN Women China office is seeking to recruit a Junior Communications Consultant, whose duties are as articulated below. Under the guidance and supervision of Communications Specialist, the Junior Consultant is expected to provide high quality support to the office communications work that is consistent with UN Women rules and regulations. The consultant also works in close collaboration with different programme team to exchange information and support the programme news story website publishing and so on.

Under the direct supervision of the Communications Specialist, the Junior Consultant will be responsible on coordinating information and layout design update for UN Women China webpage, also the newly expanded social media channels, providing event and campaign support when needed. Among others, some essential duties and tasks will be:
- Provide support to UN Women China public campaigns and events.
- Responsible on coordinating with the RO web designer, editor and technician on China webpage update related activities under the supervision of the Communications Specialist.
- Support the development and dissemination of branding and awareness-raising materials.
Support the update on UN Women China’s upcoming Twitter.
Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Bachelor's degree or other advanced degree in one or more of the following disciplines: social sciences, international development, media and/or communications with 1 year of experience is required;
Previous working experience in communication and media; knowledge and experience of using/editing public social media platform is a must.
Demonstrated abilities and track record in developing high-quality communications materials, preferably within the UN system.
- Competent user of design software such as Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut Pro and InDesign is preferred.
- Good translation and writing skills in Chinese and English.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on the cumulative analysis.
- Technical Qualification (100 points) weight; [70%]
- Financial Proposal (100 points) weight; [30%]
A two-stage procedure is utilized in evaluating the applications, with evaluation of the technical application being completed prior to any price proposal being compared. The total number of points allocated for the technical qualification component is 100. Only the candidates who have attained a minimum of 70% of total points will be considered as technically qualified candidates who may be contacted for validation interview.

Financial/Price Proposal evaluation:
- Only the financial proposal of candidates who have attained a minimum of 70% score in the technical evaluation will be considered and evaluated.
- The total number of points allocated for the price component is 100.
- The maximum number of points will be allotted to the lowest price proposal that is opened/ evaluated and compared among those technical qualified candidates who have attained a minimum of 70% score in the technical evaluation. All other price proposals will receive points in inverse proportion to the lowest price.

Payments
Payments for this consultancy will be based on the achievement of each deliverable and certification that each has been satisfactorily completed. Payments will not be based on the number of days worked but on the completion of each stated deliverable within the indicated timeframes on satisfactory completion of task.
