The project "Improving Peace Justice and Community Capacity Building for Gender-based Violence in Peru " – SUMAQ JUSTICIA (2021-2027) is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), financed by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the UNDP in alliance with the Judiciary of Peru.

This project aims to contribute to the reduction of gender-based violence in rural areas of Peru by improving the services of the peace justice.

Project Outcome 1: Improved access of rural women victims of gender-based violence to peace justice in the rural areas of four judicial districts. Project Outcome 2: Improved visibility and strengthened institution of peace justice regarding gender-based violence.

The UNV volunteer will be expected to support all monitoring and evaluation activities carried out by the project.

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support the programmatic management and monitoring of the project.
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation and knowledge management of the project.
  • Support the implementation of project and donor monitoring and evaluation policies and strategies, including the development of M&E tools for external and internal use.
  • Assist with project reporting, systematization and dissemination of project, partner and donor results.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

People in Lima are kind and hospitable, so it's not hard to settle in and establish new friends, making it a family-friendly destination. However, Lima's traffic and congestion can make even the simplest trips difficult.

• Vaccinations are not needed for entry into the country. To be safe, travelers should check to see whether they will be passing through any locations where malaria, dengue, or yellow fever are common.

• The average temperature in Lima is 17 degrees Celsius in August and 24 degrees Celsius in February.

• Private clinics and hospitals in Lima provide access to high-quality medical care provided by trained professionals using the latest medical technology and methods.

• According to the Security Level system's approach, Lima has a very low security level. In general, violent crime is uncommon there. While in Lima, petty thievery is the most significant safety concern.

• It is possible to make a variety of payments in Peru, including wire transfers, interbank transfers, payments via QR codes or digital wallets, and withdrawals from ATMs, which are conveniently located throughout the country.

• Peru is a country highly exposed to natural disasters, being seismic with several cases of earthquakes and tremors.
