ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This internship is of a professional nature and will includes analytical and conceptual assignments. It does not include support functions at General Service level. Interns shall be involved in the work of Technology Unit of the office and carry out their assignments under the direct supervision of the Head of TEC Unit.

The internship assignment will be related to the field of study of the interns, that is Computer Science, Information Technology or similar Discipline and is expected to be meaningful for both the hiring unit and the intern and be at an appropriate level of complexity.

Due to the nature of the assignment, interns shall not perform managerial or supervisory functions nor replace existing staff or carry out functions of a vacant post. Internship shall not be sought to replace or substitute a regular staff function.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the supervision of IT Operations Associate, the incumbent will perform the following tasks.

  1. Analyze and break down cost for Mobile Phone and Mobile Internet Expenditures data received from the service providers and update the database. This will enable the TEC Team to identify and take immediate actions if some information is not correct.
  2. Check provided data from Official Inventory Database for IT Equipment to verify that the records are UpToDate and reflect correct assignments.
  3. Review provided all printer list and technical specification of required cartridges, based on which to analyze the quantity of needed cartridges and toner for 3 month and 6-month period.
  4. Check and update staff’s call sign list and Emergency Contact lists.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ from a recognized university majoring in Computer Science or Information Technology or similar Discipline and have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment in the university.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Teams and MS Sharepoint
  • Fluency in English and Tajik or Russian

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
