What will you do in this position?

Under the supervision of the Head of the Health Supply Chain, the IT Operations Assistant- will play a key role during the implementation of the WFP Health Supply Chain Project. He / She will deliver standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitor a wide range of information sources for the USAID-funded project.

How can you make a difference?

In this position, you will have to:

  • Carry out system and equipment maintenance task, such as back-up system data, and system protection to ensure they are running effectively, and enable easy and efficient use.

  • Undertake basic monitoring and trouble shooting of server systems to ensure a consistent delivery of IT services to staff.

  • Respond to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology.

  • Receive and inspect all incoming assets and report discrepancies in IT materials inventory to the Head of Administration & Finance to ensure materials are effectively tracked.

  • Perform basic data testing and support the roll-out of new versions of centrally supported software to ensure the software is operational for WFP staff at the CMS.

  • Ensure information is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, websites, and archives in order to support the management of these systems.

  • With direction from senior colleagues (WFP CO IT, or HQ IT), collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation and web content, to contribute to the availability of information about services and products.

  • Install, operate, and maintain telecommunications systems and equipment, to ensure optimal services in compliance with standard operations procedures.

  • Support the development of standard material such as training documentation and web content on behalf of senior officers, to ensure staff have access to require information about IT services and products.

  • Suggest improvements to methods and processes in order to support the continuous improvement of IT services.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in IT Operations/ Information Technologies.

  • Has experience with the application of client services standards to resolve or escalate clients’ service problems.

  • Good communication skills.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
