Result of Service The consultant will be responsible to deliver the following:

  • Migration or transformation of legacy solutions to the cloud;
  • High level reference architecture documentation;
  • Development of best practices and guidance for containerizing various application platforms;
  • Containerization & Orchestration to automate the scheduling, deployment, networking, scaling, health monitoring, and management of containers;
  • Design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines.

    Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the Chief, ICTS, and direct supervision by the Head of Cloud, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Unit, the IT Assistant (Cloud Solution Specialist) will perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct an assessment of current state architecture, and provide recommendation of future state architecture using cloud technologies and develop reusable technical reference architectures to promote cloud adoption;

  • Perform detailed analysis of application cross sections, map to cloud functions and enable application migration to the cloud;
  • Create data/transition architectures that map to future state cloud strategy and solutions;
  • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the organization;
  • Design the migration of existing systems to the cloud, as well as implement new solutions;
  • Architect, design, and develop highly available and resilient cloud infrastructure and applications;
  • Architect, design, and develop continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) solutions;
  • Architect, design, and develop automated testing frameworks;
  • Act as a specialist in cloud implementations, questions, and requirements;
  • Automate the installation, upgrade and monitoring of applications, servers, and infrastructure;
  • Automate tasks and perform continuous service improvement;
  • Work closely with Cybersecurity team to monitor the health and security of cloud services;
  • Plan and develop automated non-functional test cases, such as failover, performance, and capacity tests to ensure reliability of cloud services;
  • Perform application deployments and configuration changes to support new software releases;
  • Participate in on-call rotations for both cloud and on-premises infrastructure issues.

    Qualifications/special skills A Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or a related field is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in architecture and design of Microsoft-centric solutions based on industry standards using (Azure) IaaS, PaaS and SaaS capabilities is required.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official United Nations language is an added advantage.
