Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of IT Analyst (Database and ERP) is assigned to the Infrastructure and Technology Division within the Information Technology Department. ITID is responsible for the design, governance, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of ADB’s technology infrastructure, platforms, security, and associated systems. This division ensures that the bank’s production technology systems are operational and available to the people of ADB and continually monitors the bank’s infrastructure and applications for potential security threats and breaches. This division also stays abreast of the latest developments in end-user devices, mobility, and technology architecture to ensure ADB takes advantage of the latest technologies when it makes business sense.

Your Role

As an IT Analyst (Database and ERP), you will oversee the comprehensive management of Oracle Databases and Oracle Applications E-Business Suite (ERP), PostgreSQL including related software. The incumbent will play a crucial role in guaranteeing the optimal performance, integrity, security, and availability of ADB systems.

You will:

Provide assistance to the Database Administration Unit with regards to Oracle database and Postgress administration. The candidate will be assigned tasks by his Supervisor and will report progress on a weekly basis during a team meeting. It is expected that the candidate will perform his or her duties in self-autonomy and will be required to interact and communicate with other ITID staff such as team leads, QA and developers.

The following summarizes the main responsibilities that the candidate will be assuming during the execution of his or her duties under the authority of his Supervisor:

● Oracle database administration

o Cloning

o Backup and recovery

- Export/import – schema refresh

- Perform DB recover

• Full DB restore and recovery

• PITR

• Implement backup policies/strategies

o Data Guard configuration and administration

o Performance tuning

o Storage Management

- Tablespace management

- Monitor and request for disk expansion

o User/permission management

- Create users roles

- Grant/revoke privileges

● Monitoring the overall performance of the Oracle databases and troubleshoot issues encountered in all environments (dev,test, uat, sit, prod):

o Checking the availability of the databases daily

o Deploy customizations and run adhoc requests

o Assisting the development team with potential application code issues

● Patching Oracle DB’s as needed (for bugs or security patches)

● Managing and maintaining various software and monitoring tools used by the Database Administration Unit:

o Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)

o Oracle APEX

o Oracle Discoverer

● Attending to end-users requests and issues by coordinating with various sections or units within ITD and other ADB departments

● Liaising with Oracle Support as needed for following up any internal Service Request related to Oracle database or Oracle E-Business technology stack

● Automation (ansible or shell scripting) of routine DBA Tasks such as:

o monitoring/gathering DB & DB Server information

o Database backups

o Regular DB cloning/schema refresh

Qualifications

You will need:

· Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering or relevant fields.

· At least 5 years of relevant professional experience with significant database development and administration work.

· Proficiency in Oracle Database Administration (Postgres and SQL Server Administration a plus)

· Proficient SQL and SQL-related technologies

· Expertise in relevant database management systems, database design, systems programming, programming languages, and structure systems analysis and design; expertise in database-related performance measurement software.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is required.
