Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship The position of Investment Officer is assigned to the Financial Institutions Division (PSFI) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). You will be based at our Resident Mission Office in People’s Republic of China (PRCM).

You will report to the Director, PSFI and designated International Staff and senior National Staff, with administrative reporting to the Country Director of PRCM.

Your Role As an Investment Officer, you will support the PSFI, specifically work relating to on-boarding and structuring of new loans and investments to financial institutions (FI) entities in East Asia. The Investment Officer will handle independent responsibilities and work closely with ADB’s clients, internal and external stakeholders and the PSFI team. The responsibilities are across analytical, business development and other support activities, related to the FI operations that are core to PSFI operations. The position is core to the goals of ADB’s New Operating Model, with a stated goal to locate staff closer to clients in the region, making it easier for clients to work with ADB, create new business opportunities, improve ADB’s understanding of local contexts, and create more opportunities for impactful solutions.

Additional Information This position is for outposting to People's Republic of China Resident Mission (PRCM) and is open to internal and external applicants. If you are an external candidate, you may initially be based in HQ before being outposted. If you are an internal candidate, the outposting will be immediate.

This opening is a local staff position. It is open only to nationals and residents of People's Republic of China.

This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (“Recruitment and Appointment’). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. It may be extended on an exceptional basis for a further fixed period at the option of ADB. This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

PSFI is responsible for deal identification and structuring, due diligence and approvals, to signing and first disbursement for funding bank and non-bank financial institutions in all ADB developing member countries. Within PSFI’s activities, the position is specifically for PRCM, to support PSFI’s lending and equity investment operations origination in East Asia from the PRCM office.

PSOD provides investment capital to private sector entrepreneurs, corporates, and project sponsors, as well as financial intermediaries, such as banks, throughout developing Asia and the Pacific. It catalyzes, structures, and funds investments in privately held and publicly listed companies including state-sponsored companies across a wide range of industry sectors. Its emphasis is on commercially viable transactions that generate financial returns while also delivering on ADB's organization-wide mission to promote environmentally sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
