Location: UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen

How can you make a difference?

The Web internship is centred on the maintenance and creation of content for UNICEF Supply Division’s external website for timely, accessible and accurate information. The website aims at diverse audiences, including suppliers and partners, and requires regular publication of technical documents and content on procurement and supply of products for children.

In agreement with the supervisor, the intern will:

  • Update the content of UNICEF Supply Division’s website, including news stories and technical documents.
  • Contribute to keep the website compliant with the organization’s branding and web management standards.
  • Source, edit and publish photos and videos.
  • Create and publish multimedia products, like infographics, to improve user experience.
  • Actively participate in concept development sessions and provide inputs to enhance the website’s content, functionality and usability.
  • Design and publish web pages.
  • Support the Communications Centre carrying out other communication-related tasks as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

Enrolled in a degree programme in an undergraduate or graduate school, or a recent graduate (have concluded an undergraduate or graduate programme within the past two years) in the area of digital communication and media or similar, preferably with focus on web design.

Have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor.

Your skills:

  • Fluent in English (required). Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of web communication technologies, web design, usability and information architecture (required).
  • Familiar with quality image editing tools like Illustrator and Photoshop (required).
  • Familiar with web content management systems, preferably Drupal and SharePoint (required).
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization techniques, web analytics and data visualization tools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS is an advantage.

Additional information:

Internship Stipend: Interns are paid in accordance with the UNICEF policy on the Internship Programme.

Age: Interns must be at least 18 years

Family relations: Interns must have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.

Visa: UNICEF is not responsible for obtaining any visas for internships. However, UNICEF can provide a Note Verbale to respective Consulates, to support the application of Visas. Also, in the scenario that the intern is already in the country of the duty station and have been granted a different work permit modality, any extension cannot be dependent on an internship with UNICEF.

Insurance: The selected candidate must provide proof of health/accident insurance plan that covers them in the country of the assignment and for the entire duration of the assignment.

Interns are covered for any service-incurred injury/illness.

Employment: There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Onboarding: The intern will be required to provide confirmation of strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor, a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions before taking up service as an intern.
