Internship: Web Intern - Communications Centre

UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen

Tentative start date: 1 October 2023.

Preferred duration: This is a full-time internship with a preferred duration of 6 months. It is possible to extend this internship to a maximum of 12 months with a part-time commitment and a 50-per-cent reduced monthly stipend.

Salary/Payment: The assignment is paid in accordance with the UNICEF policy on the Internship Programme.

In UNICEF, over 1000 colleagues work in the Supply Function across 97 countries and 173 offices.

UNICEF's supply and logistics headquarters - Supply Division - is located in Copenhagen, which is also home to the largest humanitarian warehouse in the world. About half of the 1000 colleagues are housed in Supply Division, Copenhagen with areas of expertise including logistics, procurement, warehouse management, product innovation, market insights, finance, pharma, nutrition, vaccines, cold chain, and health technologies and engineering.

The Web internship is centered on the management and creation of content for UNICEF Supply Division’s external website for timely, accessible and accurate information. The website aims at diverse audiences, including suppliers and partners, and requires regular publication of information on procurement and supply of products for children.

How can you make a difference?

In agreement with the Web internship’s supervisor, the intern will:

  • Update the content of UNICEF Supply Division’s website, including news stories and documents.
  • Help ensure that the website is optimized for search engines.
  • Contribute to monitor the website’s traffic and create analytics reports.
  • Work to keep the website compliant with the organization’s branding, style, and web management standards.
  • Source, edit, and publish photos and videos.
  • Draft engaging and informative web text content such as articles and explainers.
  • Create multimedia products, like infographics, to improve web user experience.
  • Participate in concept development sessions and provide inputs to enhance the website’s content, functionality, and reach.
  • Support the Communications Centre in carrying out other external and internal communication-related tasks as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

**Education***:*

Enrolled in a degree programme in an undergraduate or graduate school, or a recent graduate (have concluded an undergraduate or graduate programme within the past two years) in communication and digital media or in a similar area, preferably with focus on web content or design.

Have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor.

Your skills:

  • Fluent in English (required). Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of web communication, web design, usability and information architecture.
  • Familiar with quality image editing tools like Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Familiar with web content management systems, preferably Drupal and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization techniques, web analytics and data visualization tools is a desirable advantage
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS is desirable.

Additional information:

Internship stipend: Interns are paid in accordance with the UNICEF policy on the Internship Programme. For internships based in Denmark, the value is USD 1,700 per month.

Age: Interns must be at least 18 years

Family relations: Interns must have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.

Insurance: The selected candidate must provide proof of health/accident insurance plan that covers them in the country of the assignment and for the entire duration of the assignment.

Interns are covered for any service-incurred injury/illness.

Employment: There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

The internship may be terminated by either party, with a notice period of at least two weeks.

Onboarding: The intern will be required to provide confirmation of strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor, a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions before taking up service as an intern.

Vaccination Status: candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to selected candidates who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premise
