You have:

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme related to economics, statistics, business, commerce, marketing, or supply chain management.
  • Essential: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English.
  • Desirable: A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
  • Interns must work five days a week on a full-time basis.
  • Interns are not paid and are responsible for all costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities

THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security and environmental protection. To that effect, ICAO is a knowledge-based organization engaged in the development of intellectual property. The Global Aviation Training (GAT) Section in the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI) is responsible for the planning, management and coordination of all ICAO aviation training activities, ensuring the efficient, effective and harmonized implementation of the ICAO Training Policy and response to the training needs of Member States, international and regional organizations, aviation industry and other partners. GAT is the ICAO point of contact for all training and associated activities. The incumbent will report to the Head of Training Operations (H/TOP), who will be responsible for assigning tasks, deciding priorities, providing instructions on special tasks, and evaluating results. TERMS OF REFERENCE Under the supervision of H/TOP, the intern will provide administrative support for the annual training implementation plan in assigned ICAO Regions, achieving results such as: • Review training requests emanating from the assigned region and/or assigned Regional Offices, the States and/or the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP) Members in those regions; • Coordinate training activities in the assigned Region and promote corresponding marketing strategies; • Report to H/TOP on the training activities in the assigned Region; • Request invoices from the Finance section (FIN) for course deliveries in coordination with GAT’s FIN focal point; • Communicate with Member States, Training Centres, and participants to ensure the timely collection of outstanding invoices; • Follow-up on invoicing and payments relative to training activities under CDI projects; • Coordinate the provision of services with supplier(s) for training delivery (i.e. logistics preparation), ensuring procurement rules and procedures are respected; • Ensure that payments to suppliers are processed in a timely manner; • Process the recruitment of technical experts (i.e. instructors, validators etc.) through appropriate channels; • Perform other related duties.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must, at the time of application, have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree) or higher. The programme must be in a field of study related to economics, statistics, business, commerce, marketing and/or supply chain management. Applicants pursuing studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.

Additional Information

Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. The duration of the internship is between three to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis. Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
