Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will assist in the following duties and responsibilities:

Business Process Support

  • Provide administrative support in day-to-day activities
  • Provide support in updating and maintaining database on shared folders
  • Provide support on data entry in prevailing web based system
  • Provide simple analysis in area of operations to provide recommendation of simplification of business process as required by hiring manager
  • Provide support in workshop, seminar or event preparation related to programme implementation
  • Provide administrative support on development of IT database and maitenance of information as required
  • Provide support for knowledge sharing and training on gender sensitive operations related training
  • Provide procurement, admin, asset, IT and finance support in country office business process related to programme implementation. Provide liaison support with communication along country office internal unit and government/ministerial or implementing partners related to programme implementation

  • Support other/ad hoc activities as seen relevant and needed

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Candidates must meet of the following educational requirements:

  • currently in the final year of a bachelor’s degree
  • currently enrolled in a master’s degree; or
  • have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree or equivalent studies.

Field of study: Development Studies, Public Policy, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Fiscal Administration, or equivalent.

IT skills:

  • Knowledge and a proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools;

Language skills:

  • Proficiency in English is required;
  • Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Other competencies and attitude:

  • Interest and motivation in working in an international organization;
  • Knowledge of – or proven interest in the area of finance management, procurement, supply and logistics, human resources;
  • Outgoing and initiative-taking person with a goal oriented mind-set;
  • Communicates effectively when working in teams and independently;
  • Good in organizing and structuring various tasks and responsibilities;
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;
  • Responds positively to feedback and differing points of view;
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.

INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS

  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship;
  • Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;
  • Interns are expected to work full time, but flexibility is allowed for education programmes;
  • Interns need to obtain financing for subsistence and make own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation, etc.
