Job Description

Please note: This is an unpaid internship open only to those with authorization to work in the US and who are or plan to be residing in the Denver metro area. No financial compensation is offered nor relocation assistance provided.

COMMITMENT: At least 10 hours per week, 3 month minimum

INTERNSHIP/PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Resource Development Intern will support the Resettlement Team at the IRC in Denver on a new resource development project. The Binder Project is a cross-team collaborative project with the goal of promoting autonomy and self-sufficiency for literate and pre-literate clients. When clients begin services at the IRC and meet with their caseworker, clients will be given a digital and/or hardcopy binder with translated guides, fact sheets, and videos about the programs and services at the IRC in Denver, how to perform a variety of core tasks (I.e. making a money order, paying rent, taking the bus), and community resources (I.e. community centers, food pantries, and cultural and identity specific resources) in Denver. By collecting the various resources available at the IRC in Denver in one space, the binder will serve as a resource for clients for the duration of their services and beyond. Clients will be able to review the resources in the binder independently, reinforcing trainings, meetings, and orientations held by IRC staff. The digital binder will promote digital literacy among clients. The Resource Development Intern will support the Binder Project Working Group in developing new resources for the digital and hardcopy binders, monitoring and evaluation efforts, and obtaining client and staff feedback about the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Research resources in the greater Denver community that would be beneficial or IRC clients. • Compile resources in an accessible and translatable format to be included in the binder and digital binder for IRC clients. • Assist with the routine updating, reformatting, and translation management of the Binder Project. • Assist with the assembly of hardcopy binders • Connect with the program teams at the IRC to learn more about their resource needs and develop new resources for the program teams as needed. • Assist the Binder Project Working Group with conducting client and staff feedback through surveys and focus groups. • Help develop a monitoring and evaluation strategy including editing the existing Theory of Change and Logical Framework for the Binder Project. • Learn about the existing programs and services at the IRC through in-person learning and support opportunities with the various program teams. • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

IRC Denver Internships are open to those candidates who are currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning, or who are recent graduates.

REQUIREMENTS: • Interest and/or experience working in refugee resettlement. • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to format and design accessible and translatable resources. • Flexibility • In-person and remote work availability • Data collection and management skills, including the ability to conduct interviews, analyze data, and utilize excel • Organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time effectively.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. The intern will gain professional experience providing technical assistance and programmatic support to the Binder Project Working Group. 2. The intern will deepen understanding of monitoring and evaluation, program design, resource development, and obtaining client feedback. 3. The intern will gain practical experience working for a large NGO in a challenging policy environment for refugees and immigrants.
