The Public Partnerships Division is responsible for developing and strengthening public partnerships to support UNICEF’s work to protect the rights of every child.

The partnerships with Washington DC-based International Financial Institutions (IFIs) are among UNICEF’s most important and multi-faceted external partnerships.

How can you make a difference?

The Public Partnerships intern will work closely with the Public Partnerships staff based in Washington DC, supporting UNICEF in managing partnerships and resource mobilization with the IFIs, including the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund, and the Inter-American Development Bank.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Assist the Public Partnerships Division in maximizing partnerships with the Washington, DC-based IFIs, with a focus onCOVID-19 response and recovery, as well as enhancing collaboration in fragile, conflict, and violence affected settings.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing notes, reports, and other documentation required by UNICEF leadership for meetings with partners.
  • Draft and update guidance and fact sheets on engagement with DC partners.
  • Develop communications content to strengthen partnership recognition and visibility, including but not limited to, social media content, blogs, op-eds, presentations, and reports.
  • Perform ad hoc research on engagement strategies and assist in maintaining up-to-date knowledge management.
  • Compile data, information, and news on subject matter relevant to the work of the office.

  • Attend and report on events or briefings associated with UNICEF’s strategic mission.

  • Support other functions of the Public Partnerships team as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Must be enrolled, within the past year, in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with a preferred major in international development or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills to synthesize and communicate concepts clearly.
  • Ability to conduct research and draft reports.
  • Capacity to work independently on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt to changing demands and circumstances.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN working languages is desirable.

Salary/Payment: UNICEF will provide a monthly stipend during the duration of this Internship. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Visa: If travel to the United States is required, interns are responsible for obtaining their G-4 visa before traveling to the U.S. They will not be permitted to enter the United States without a valid G-4 visa. UNICEF will only issue guidance and a letter stating acceptance of an individual as an intern and the conditions governing the Internship.

Insurance: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern's service. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to starting his/her work.

Living and Working Conditions: The internship is full time (40 hours per week), with the option to be part-time for the right candidate. We anticipate that the Washington DC office will primarily work remotely through most of the period, with periodic meetings and events in-person should the conditions permit.
