ABOUT WFP

We are currently seeking to fill a national intern position with Programme Unit to be based in Maputo, Mozambique.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of graduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months in sociology, anthropology, psychology, socio-economics, or equivalent areas of studies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Excellent command of Portuguese is required.
  • Working knowledge of English would be an asset.

JOB PURPOSE

WFP Mozambique Climate Change Adaptive Food Systems Unit, jointly with the Ministry of Land and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADER), Ministry of Economy and Finance-NDA (MEF-NDA), the National Meteorology Institute (INAM) and the National Institute for Risk Management and reduction (INGD), is introducing the adoption of an Ecosystem-based Adaptation conceptual framework within the setting of an Integrated Water Resources Management System.

The selected candidate will be supporting the above-mentioned activities as per the key accountabilities described below.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of Activity 3 Manager, the candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Support 3PA initiatives
  • Assist Village Savings and Loans Groups (VSLGs)
  • Reinforce the role of women in VSLGs and other forums
  • Assess women perspective on specific actions during planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Support gender related initiatives.

  • Proven analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Collaborative spirit with the ability to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures.
  • Strong drive, self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proactive attitude, shows initiative and has a sense of accountability.
  • Ability to work productively and in an organized fashion.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP of US$ 575 per month.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
