How can you make a difference?

The Regional Human Resources Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking a qualified individual to implement HR strategies and work-plan and will work closely with the Regional HR Team and will interact with the HR teams in Country Offices (COs) within the EAP Region. The intern would be expected to gain hands on experience in different areas of HR management and would also bring fresh perspective and innovative ideas to further improve the delivery of HR services focused on improving efficiency through study of the assigned HR processes, interpret relevant data and suggest simplification and improvements. Furthermore, the intern would also be expected to assist with digitalization of HR records and processes in close collaboration with the RHR and ICT team.

Work Assignment:

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Human Resources Specialist, the intern will be responsible for supporting projects as outlined in the areas above. The intern will also perform ad hoc functions to support other parts of the team as required.

The intern will undertake the following main tasks:

  • Assist the RHR team with the administrative and logistical support as required such as:
  • Assist Regional HR Team with Learning Initiatives
  • Assist with re-organization, structuring/restructuring of EAPRO HR Network SharePoint pages and remote digital storage folders.
  • Identify and suggest improved and user-friendly display of the content in the RHR SharePoint pages
  • Identify out-of-date content and replace with current content or links to current content
  • Recommend digital archiving guidelines and implement after approved by Regional Chief of HR.
  • Apply the same guidelines to paper content currently in the office.
  • Assist with recruitment processes by providing administrative support to the RHR Team for the assigned cases.
  • Assist with simplification and improvement of the assigned HR processes by consolidating, studying and interpreting relevant data, identifying areas for improvement and recommending changes.
  • Administer Regional HR meetings as requested, prepare meeting minutes, disseminate the minutes and follow up actions as applicable.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor.

Duration of Contract: 3 Months – Starting ASAP (initial 3 months with possible extension depending on office requirements).

Working Schedule: Full time (40 hours per week).

Qualifications:

  • Be currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a degree programme in an undergraduate or graduate school, or be a preferably in Human Resources, Communications, Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations/Affairs, Business Administration, etc.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of one other UN working language an advantage.
  • Very good analytical skills and ability to synthesize concepts and material into clear and concise thoughts (see also communication below)
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent understanding of and knowledge of software such as but not limited to Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Excel.
  • Organizes and manages information to achieve defined goals and optimum results.
  • Effectively presents thoughts and ideas including complex technical concepts, in a clear, concise, and readily understood manner, both verbally and in writing. Listens to and acknowledges others' perspectives and views.
  • Works effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changing demands and circumstances.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – able to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently

Conditions of Intern:

  1. Expenses: Stipend according to UNICEF’s guideline is applicable.
  2. Health/Medical insurance: UNICEF accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship whether on or off UNICEF premises except when it is service incurred. The intern must carry adequate and regular medical insurance. The intern will be required to provide with a proof of medical insurance prior to commence work.
  3. Confidentiality. The intern is required to respect the confidentiality of information that s/he collect or is exposed to at UNICEF. No reports or papers may be published based on information obtained from UNICEF without the explicit written authorization by the Head of Office or Division Director.
  4. Impartiality. The intern is required to respect the impartiality and independence required of UNICEF and will not seek or accept instructions regarding the services performed under the internship agreement from any Government or from any authority external to UNICEF.
  5. Employment Prospects. There is no expectance of employment at the end of the internship.

Provision of Supervising and Monitoring:

The intern will work under the supervision of HR Specialist, The Regional Human Resources Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO)

Working Location: UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO), Bangkok (with possibly of remote working either entirely or partially depending on travel and other conditions at the time of onboarding)
