For every child, a sustainable, clean and safe environment

Migration is an expanding global reality, increasing in scale and complexity over the last few years. Between 2005 and 2015, the number of child refugees worldwide, more than doubled from 4 million to 9 million. 1 in 2 refugees in the world is a child. 1 in 5 international migrants is younger than 20 years. While migration bears acute protection risks for many children, particularly if unaccompanied or undocumented, migration is also an empowering experience for millions of children who migrate safely and regularly within their countries or regions, enriching the societies they leave and join.

The UNICEF Migration Team based in the Programme Group is recruiting two interns to support across different programmatic areas. Both interns will work with the team towards implementing UNICEF Six Point Agenda on Children on the Move and support the Headquarters’ functions on coordination, knowledge management, policy and programming guidance and partnerships.

How can you make a difference?

The first intern (remote, unless circumstances change) will support the Policy Specialist Migration on global coordination of UNICEF action across HQ, regional and country offices, by supporting the coordination of the UNICEF’s Global Migration Practise Group, by working with Regional and Country Offices to produce a monthly global newsletter, by supporting data analysis and visualization as well as providing background research and analysis upon demand – covering topics such as inclusion of migrant and displaced children into national health, education, social protection and child protection systems.

The first intern will also support the Knowledge Management Specialist on knowledge sharing, knowledge management and capacity building to the benefit of UNICEF globally, and in particular to the PROSPECTS countries.
