We are currently seeking to fill an intern position Finance Transformation & Field Support Branch (FINF), Corporate Finance Division based in Rome, Italy.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION:

Finance is one of the core functions in WFP with a strong network of over 800 employees globally. Finance plays a key role in facilitating WFP’s operations through management of financial resources entrusted to the Programme, financial risk management, including in cash-based transfers (CBT), settlement of WFP’s financial obligations to vendors, cooperating partners, employees and other stakeholders, maintaining accounting records of WFP’s financial transactions, providing cross functional financial advice on all aspects of WFP’s operations, and ultimately providing assurance to donors and other stakeholders through corporate and donor financial reports.

Guided by its vision of being a strategic business partner that supports the strategic shift of the organization, and in alignment with the release of the new Staffing Framework, the Finance Division has identified its people as critical in supporting the transformation of the finance role. The division plans to recruit a Knowledge Management & Communications Intern to augment existing capacity. The incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance, and technical supervision to be able to provide support to the Finance division on implementation on the people elements as the enabler in its Finance Strategy 2024 in alignment with the WFP People Policy and framework.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Knowledge Management officer, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

  • Support the implementation of the Finance Communications and Engagement Strategy, in alignment with the Finance Strategy 2024.
  • Provide assistance in developing communications and knowledge management strategies and messaging for Finance initiatives, following best practices.
  • Assist in coordinating key engagement meetings and events, such as Finance Talks series and global Finance meetings, and support collaboration opportunities within the Finance "Communications Network."
  • Provide guidance and support in maintaining communication materials for different audiences and media channels, ensuring consistency and quality, and assist in analyzing communication activities for impact within the finance function and beyond.
  • Support in facilitating coordinating efforts within the division, RB/COs and external vendors on activities connected with the Finance learning and development initiatives.
  • Provide assistance in developing and maintaining Finance knowledge management products.
  • Support in managing the Finance Learning Channel to maintain the platform, providing updates on the various financial resources to the concerned stakeholders and maintaining statistics

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university.
  • University course attendance in the past 12 months.

SUPERVISION

The intern will be under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Officer with additional guidance by the Communications Officer.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

LEARNING ELEMENTS

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:

  • Conduct research, collate, and validate information.
  • Contribute to quantitative and qualitative analysis, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
  • Prepare presentations.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  • Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
