Overview

Assist in Internal Audit data compilation and analytics.

You have:

• Currently enrolled in a University or an Advanced Degree Program or have graduated within the past two years
• Advanced Coursework and/or Certification in MS Excel or Data Analytics would be highly desirable
• Advanced MS Excel skills including managing workbook options and settings, formatting data, creating advanced formulas and macros, and managing advanced charts and tables.
• Working knowledge of PowerBi (or similar Business Intelligence tool) would be an advantage
• Coursework and/or experience scripting in Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages would be beneficial
• Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt to the changing requirements
• Fluency in English (verbal and written). Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

The Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for internal audit and investigation services to UNICEF. OIAI provides independent, objective assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls.

The OIAI internal audit function provides an independent and objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the operations of UNICEF. OIAI assesses whether UNICEF’s governance, risk management and control processes provide reasonable assurance that:

• resources are acquired economically and used efficiently;
• assets are safeguarded;
• activities comply with regulations, rules, policies, procedures, directives, administrative instructions and contracts;
• financial, managerial and operating information is accurate, reliable and timely; and
• programmes, plans and business objectives are achieved

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Professional Practices, Internal Audit, you will undertake the following tasks:

• Assist in the development of the various Business Intelligence dashboards for Internal Audit.
• Work with multiple data sources and assist in locating, accessing, understanding, and analysing the data
• Understand the various formulas, pivot tables and connections between spreadsheets and data sources.
• Interpret the various data sources and work to integrate the data into the business intelligence platform by translating the MS Excel data into understandable formats.
• Identify efficient means of harvesting data for analysis and integration into the Business Intelligence platform
• Test the data in the BI platform to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Participate in various meeting with various departments and functions to understand the data provided, and propose various methods to integrate and import data into the BI platform
• Prepare guidance notes for data compilation and extraction from Business Intelligence platform for Audit Planning
• Assist in the preparation of analytical reports and related outputs, as required.
• Provide periodic updates to the Data Analytics working group.
