The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students at both Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (CO) the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Bissau is seeking an Intern with a strong interest in IT fields as IT Helpdesk Technician, Desktop Support Specialist, Systems Administrator or Network Administrator. The intern will work under the supervision of the ICT Assistant who will be responsible for the general coordination/scheduling and close collaboration with the Deputy Representative Operations.

The key duties/tasks related to this internship are to…

  1. Troubleshooting computer hardware and software
  2. Software installations and configurations
  3. Setting up computer workstations
  4. Establish teleconference & video conference meetings
  5. Request mobile phone service activations and packages
  6. Ad hoc end-user support via email, IM, phone or in-person
  7. Ensure requests are properly opened, resolved in a timely manner, documented and closed in the ticketing system
  8. Perform any other related tasks as required

Modality: Fulltime/Part-time

Tentative start date: 04 January 2022

Duration: 6 months

The intern will be provided with an office and using ICT equipment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Be enrolled in an advance/undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme (with formal training and certification of relevant ICT related fields with a focus on Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering) or have graduated within the past two years.
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting and organizational skills .
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-starter and self-motivator; ability to work with minimal supervision.
