Org. Setting and Reporting The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security and environmental protection. To that effect, ICAO is a knowledge-based organization engaged in the development of intellectual property. The Revenue and Product Management (RPM) Section is part of the Bureau of Administration and Services (ADB) and is focused on revenue-generating activities of the Organization. The portfolio of revenue-generating activities includes publications, periodicals, databases, websites, training, printing, and events. The revenues generated by these activities are required to promote the implementation of ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and to carry out related Programme Support. The Section is responsible for the overall strategic planning, stakeholders’ collaboration, coordination, promotion, and distribution of these sellable products in close coordination with the other Bureaus/Offices of the Organization.

The Business Development (BDU) Unit within RPM is a driver for revenue generation for ICAO. The business development and sales of products and services that generate revenue for ICAO are the most important aspects of this position. These products and services and related activities within the Unit consist of, but are not limited to: events, partnerships and licensing of ICAO Intellectual Properties (IP); advertising sales (digital and print); training activities; databases and statistical products.

ICAO SkyTalks are an important medium for ICAO to communicate key initiatives and concepts in a video format. During the 41st Assembly, a series of 70+ SkyTalks will be managed by RPM, and livestreamed onto ICAO TV. This internship under the Head’s guidance, will work with the project leads from the BDU team to support, coordinate, and execute this important project.

Responsibilities The intern will work closely with the BDU team to:

Coordinate the SkyTalks schedule, achieving results such as: - Work collaboratively with the ICAO technical Bureaus to slot speakers for SkyTalks during the 41st Assembly (A41); - Manage the schedule to ensure the SkyTalks are in line with the A41 proceedings; - Track versions of the SkyTalks schedule and prepare presentations to management as required; - Develop the final schedule and post to channels such as the event app and websites as required.

Communication and preparation with SkyTalks speakers, achieving results such as: - Preparation of meetings with SkyTalks speakers to communicate best practices of SkyTalks so there is a consistency in the final product; - Engagement of a Master of Ceremonies to ensure s/he is aware of the roster of speakers per day; - Scheduling of rehearsals with a specialty consultant on communications to allow speakers dry-runs of their presentations; - Assist in ensuring that speaker timings and presentations are in line with best practices.

Assist in the procurement of the suppliers and gifts, achieving results such as: - Assist in the procurement of the A41 SkyTalks room; - Assist in the procurement of SkyTalks room gifts in line with ICAO procurement guidelines; - Storage and tracking of gifts; - Reconciliation of financials as required.

Execution of the A41 SkyTalks, achieving results such as: - Plan, organize and setup of the SkyTalks Room; - Coordinate between the MoC, Speakers, and the Audio-Visual Team; - Manage the distribution of gifts and greeting/tracking guests to the room; - Tracking of attendees for future analytics; - Liaise with the marketing team on the livestreaming onto ICAO TV.

Preparation of a post A41 report on the SkyTalks project, achieving results such as: - Development of a A41 SkyTalks Project Report o Lessons Learned o Analytics o Recommendations

Additional duties as required Given the dynamic nature of this assignment, the priority of tasks and duties may shift over time based on ICAO needs.

Desirable - Familiarity with aviation industry, ICAO Member States or the UN system.

Education Essential requirements: - Applicants must, at the time of application, have completed or be enrolled in a university degree or higher. The programme must be in a field of study related to business, communications, journalism or administration.

Desirable - Courses in business or project management.

Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages- Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English is required. - A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. This position is at the Montréal duty station and requires an in-person component, pandemic permitting.

The duration of the internship is between two to six months. The intern is expected to work five days a week.

Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.

INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE - Start Date: May 2022 - Schedule: The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis; however, flexible arrangements may be considered to accommodate student course load. - The internship will require working from the office, but remote work might be an option in line with the evolving COVID situation and the Health Canada directives.
