UNESCO Ha Noi has supported the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam since 1999, starting with the Education and Culture sectors and now expanding to contribute comprehensive assistance to the country in all action areas. The Natural Sciences Programme in Vietnam provides supports in the freshwater, marine, ecological, earth and basic sciences, while promoting science, innovation and technology and capacity-building in the sciences and engineering. Particularly, focus of UNESCO’s natural science program in Vietnam will endeavor to strengthen the roles and potentials of the UNESCO designated biosphere reserves, Global Geoparks and other UNESCO-affiliated sites, along with their associated networks, supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation, disaster risk management, green and blue economies and as sites for piloting and collaborating with other international innovative environmental initiatives. *(For more information, please consult* [*http://www.unesco.org/new/en/hanoi*](http://www.unesco.org/new/en/hanoi) *)* \\Within the Natural Sciences Programme, UNESCO Hanoi is looking for a Intern to provide the supports for program implementation during late November 2021 – May 2022. Long Description ---------------- **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** =============================== Working closely with the Associate Project Officer and under the overall authority of the Head of UNESCO Ha Noi Office and direct supervision of the Chief of Natural Sciences Unit, the intern will be involved in the planning, delivery, implementation of program/project activities under the Natural science unit. S/he will perform the following duties: ================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================================ 1. Provide assistance in desk review, searching information and data, case studies in the field of natural resources management, science, technology and innovation; 2. Support the preparation and organization of training workshops, events, webinars and consultation meetings related to natural resources conservation and management, environment protection, ocean/marine/water resources management etc.; 3. Support in develop the project’s communication materials including public information on UNESCO website and on social media channel (web stories, Facebook posts etc.) of the Programme and related projects, with guidance from supervisor, Project Officer, and Communication Officer; 4. Support to collect case stories, photos, short films within the framework of the Natural Science Sector for documentation purposes; 5. Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor as deemed appropriate. Long Description ---------------- Long Description ---------------- **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **E**ducation: The candidate either newly graduated or must be enrolled in a graduate or post-graduate degree programme in a university or equivalent institution, at the time of application; Desired majors are Natural Sciences, Natural resources management, Water Resources Sciences, Environment, Gender Studies, Communication, Education or any related fields. Languages: A good command written and spoken English is required. Work experience: Not required. Experience working in development area and youth engagement is a plus. Competencies and skills: - Knowledge on Natural Science field is an asset; - Ability to assist with data collection using various methods including electronic sources on the internet, intranet and other databases; - Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills; - Openness to interdisciplinary approaches is highly desirable. - Computer skills: Proficiency in the use of computers and in office software and packages. The intern will work intermittently within the duration from late November 2021 to May 2022 (expecting the start date from 1 Dec 2021 at the latest).
