Duties and Responsibilities

THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING The Regional Office is primarily responsible for maintaining continuous liaison with the States to which it is accredited and with appropriate organizations, regional civil aviation bodies, and UN Agencies and programmes. The Regional Office ensures interregional coordination and promotes the timely and harmonized implementation of ICAO Strategic Objectives, policies and decisions. The Regional Office also provides technical guidance and assists States with the implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and air navigation plans. TERMS OF REFERENCE Under the supervision of Regional Director, the intern will: * Assist in the development of an assessment of regional initiatives for the production of SAF and the legal and regulatory framework. * Assist in carrying out complementary studies to support the implementation of SAF. * Contribute to the promotion of the development of studies on existing technology and installed infrastructure or the announcements of SAF plants in the region. * Support to map the sector's institutional governance, including the national and international institutional partnerships, academia, private companies, and government institutions.

Qualifications/special skills

At the time of application, candidates are required to have completed or be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (second-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to International Relations or Political Science with focus on Renewable energy and the transportation sector. It is also important to have experience within the renewable energy sector, specifically with expertise in biofuels and aviation policies.

Languages

Essential: Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English. Desirable: A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).

Additional Information

Interns are not paid. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. The duration of the internship is for two months. The intern is expected to work five days a week, on a full-time basis. Interns shall not be eligible to be engaged in any other form of employment within ICAO during the period of internship and shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for the six months immediately following the end of their internship.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
