ABOUT WFP

We are currently seeking to fill an intern position with Engineering and Facilities Unit to be based in Tete, Mozambique.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of graduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • AUTOCAD software or equivalent.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and working knowledge of English.

JOB PURPOSE

The selected candidate will be assisting the WFP Tete Field Office with the following projects:

  • WFP Tete New complex
  • SF WHK project – School feeding
  • Tete warehouse rehabilitation
  • Watershed management and building of assets (Well, channel, irrigation, etc)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Act as a focal point for Tete activities and report back periodically – Periodicity to be determined as per site needs of the projects upon commencement.
  • Read and interpret design issues and propose solutions whenever applicable and alert on possible problems/inconsistencies.
  • Site supervision, quality control, and organization of documents

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstration of interest in the assigned task and problem solving
  • Report skill and organization of documentation, including tracking and follow-up of open subjects
  • Interaction with necessary stakeholders
  • Quality control of all activities on site

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Familiarization with Civil engineering standards and project interpretation
  • Familiarization with the construction site and management
  • Development of interaction with different construction stakeholders
  • Quality control and site supervision
  • Health safety and environmental compliance
  • Reports compilation and report back skill development
  • Documents organizations and tracking, including activities/working chronogram tracking
  • Time and cost management

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP of US$ 575 per month.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
