You have:

• Be enrolled in a graduate degree programme in Education, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics or relevant field.
• Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university records.
• Knowledge of MS Office including MS Excel is required.
• Knowledge of Statistical tools and various databases is required.
• Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required.
• Knowledge of an additional UN language is considered an asset.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Purpose and Objective:

In the context of COVID-19, the need to protect education’s budget for sustainable and equitable development has increased. Under the guidance and general supervision of the education specialist (economist) on the Sector planning, Innovation, Data and Evidence for Results (SIDER) team at NYHQ Education Section, Programme Division, the intern will support analyses related to education costing and financing in development and emergency contexts. The internship will be full-time and remote.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Support data input, analysis and visualization regarding equitable financing for education, such as benefit incidence analysis
• Support editing and review of the costing model for digital learning solutions
• Collect and extract cost-effectiveness discussions related to school re-opening and other COVID-19 related education responses.

Duration

This will be a full-time internship and the duration will be for 4 months.

Salary/Payment:

In accordance to UNICEF’s guidelines, interns will be paid a stipend of US $1,700 per month. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Insurance:

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start the internship with the Education Section.

Living Conditions and Working Environment:

The intern will be remote based and work from home. The intern will work with the Education Section and report to the supervisor of this internship. The intern is not expected to travel during the assignment. The intern will be expected to participate in education section meetings, as well as other UNICEF meetings of interest to the student, including the seminar series for UNICEF interns. Guidance will be provided on a regular basis.

• Be enrolled in a graduate degree programme pursuing the Graduate study in Education, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics or other field relevant to the position. Recent graduates are allowed until 2 years after degree completion.
• Should have an excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
• Have knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office including MS Excel is required.
• Have knowledge of Statistical tools and various databases.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
