Purpose

In the post pandemic, there is an increasing need to protect education budgets for a sustainable and equitable learning recovery. Under the guidance and general supervision of the education specialist (economist), this intern will provide support to knowledge management of education costing and financing efforts by UNICEF and its partners.

The key duties and tasks for this internship are summarized as follows:

  1. Provide education financing input to the UNICEF Education Knowledge Management Dashboard (internal and external)
  2. Maintain and improve the internal ‘Education Cost and Financing’ TEAMS library
  3. Update the mapping of Innovative Financing for Education
  4. Gather messages comparing the unit cost of education input vs. other daily consumption in G20 countries.

Duration

7 March – 5 September, 2022

Salary/Payment:

In accordance to UNICEF’s guidelines, interns will be paid a stipend of US $1,700 per month. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Insurance:

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start the internship with the Education Section.

Living Conditions and Working Environment:

The intern will be remote based and work from home. The intern will work with the Education Section and report to the supervisor of this internship. The intern is not expected to travel during the assignment. The intern will be expected to participate in education section meetings, as well as other UNICEF meetings of interest to the student, including the seminar series for UNICEF interns. Guidance will be provided on a regular basis.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will…

  • Education – Major in Education, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics or other filed relevant to the position.
  • Language – Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge on Microsoft Office 365 applications including Power BI, Sharepoint and Teams.
