**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Field Office Duty Station: Dar-es-Salaam Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Education Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 11-09-2023 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- ***Background*** Under the overall authority of the UNESCO Dar es Salaam Officer-in-Charge, and the guidance and direct supervision of the National Professional Officer for the Education Sector, the incumbent assists in the effective and efficient implementation of the Education Sector projects for UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office, through a range of actions contributing to the design, planning, and management and monitoring of project activities. The Intern applies and promotes the principles of Results-Based Management (RBM), as well as a client-oriented approach consistent with UNESCO rules and regulations. *The Intern* works in close collaboration with the Project and Programme Officers, and other staff in the Office for effective achievement of results, anticipating and contributing to resolving complex programme/project-related issues and information delivery. The incumbent is expected to exercise full compliance with UNESCO programming, financial, procurement and administrative rules, regulations, policies and strategies, as well as implementation of the effective internal control systems. Long Description ---------------- **Duties and requirements** The incumbent will; - Assist in the development of project proposals for resource mobilization in the Education Sector; - Pro-actively contribute to day-to-day project implementation. - Assist in preparation and logistical planning of various events - e.g. meetings, workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. - Assist in preparation of necessary project documents; - Prepare and issue contracts including drafting TORs for Contracts for Services/IPAs and processing awards of contracts/IPAs by submitting in Daily UNESCO Operations (DUO). - Assist in promoting the visibility of UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office projects and activities, through Social Media (i.e., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn etc.), and updating information on the website. - Perform any other duties and undertake any other tasks as requested and assigned by the Head of Office. Long Description ---------------- **Learning Objectives** - Familiarization with UNESCO's programming rules and regulations. - Designing and implementing projects using Results-based Management and Reporting principles. - Establishing and maintaining relations with Education Sector stakeholders in Tanzania Mainland. - Integration of UN programming principles (Gender, Human Rights and Culture) in the implementation of UNESCO programmes. - Familiarization with the Tanzania Education sector landscape including policies, strategies, plans and actors.
